Kits for treating the hair

Abstract

The disclosure relates to compositions for treating keratinous substrates, such as the hair, comprising monoethanolamine and at least one carboxylic acid, as well as systems and methods for treating keratinous substrates with the compositions.

         30 . A kit comprising:
 a) a first compartment comprising a hair treatment composition comprising:
 monoethanolamine; 
 at least one carboxylic acid chosen from citric acid and/or salts thereof; and 
 at least one solvent chosen from water, non-aqueous solvents, or mixtures thereof; 
   b) a second compartment comprising a hair conditioning composition comprising:
 monoethanolamine; and 
 at least one carboxylic acid chosen from maleic acid and/or salts thereof; and 
   c) optionally, a third compartment comprising at least one hair color altering compound.   
     
     
         31 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair treatment composition further comprises at least one colorant compound. 
     
     
         32 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair treatment composition further comprises at least one additional carboxylic acid. 
     
     
         33 . The kit according to  claim 32 , wherein the at least one additional carboxylic acid is chosen from oxalic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, citraconic acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, salts thereof, or combinations thereof. 
     
     
         34 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair treatment composition has a pH ranging from about 1 to about 6. 
     
     
         35 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair treatment composition comprises monoethanolamine in an amount ranging from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight, based on the weight of the hair treatment composition. 
     
     
         36 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair treatment composition comprises the at least one carboxylic acid in an amount ranging from about 0.1% to about 25% by weight, based on the weight of the hair treatment composition. 
     
     
         37 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair conditioning composition comprises monoethanolamine in an amount ranging from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight, based on the weight of the conditioning composition. 
     
     
         38 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair conditioning composition comprises the at least one carboxylic acid in an amount ranging from about 0.5% to about 10% by weight, based on the weight of the hair conditioning composition. 
     
     
         39 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair conditioning composition further comprises at least one of quaternium-91, acrylates copolymer, cetrimonium chloride, phenoxyethanol, sorbitan oleate, polyquaternium-37, glycerin, propylene glycol, cetrimonium methosulfate, benzoic acid, cetearyl alcohol, stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, mineral oil, behentrimonium methosulfate, hydroxyethylcellulose, or combinations thereof. 
     
     
         40 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair conditioning composition comprises at least one solvent chosen from water, non-aqueous solvents, or mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         41 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the hair conditioning composition further comprises at least one additional carboxylic acid. 
     
     
         42 . The kit according to  claim 41 , wherein the at least one additional carboxylic acid is chosen from citric acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, malic acid, glutaric acid, citraconic acid, glycolic acid, succinic acid, adipic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid, sebacic acid, benzoic acid, glyoxylic acid monohydrate, salts thereof, or combinations thereof 
     
     
         43 . The kit according to  claim 30 , wherein the pH of the hair conditioning composition ranges from about 1 to about 7. 
     
     
         44 . The kit according to  claim 30 , comprising:
 (c) a third compartment comprising at least one hair bleaching agent.   
     
     
         45 . The kit according to  claim 44 , wherein the at least one hair bleaching agent is chosen from peroxides, persulfates, perborates, percarbonates, peracids, bromates, salts thereof, or mixtures thereof.
