Abstract
Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for determining, based on blockchain, integrity of software and/or data stored on a vehicle. A computing device associated with a vehicle may determine one or more hash values for software and/or data stored on the vehicle. The computing device may receive values from read-only memory associated with the computing device and/or values from a blockchain of a distributed ledger system. The computing device may determine the integrity of the software and/or data based on the one or more hash values, the values from the read-only memory, and/or the values from the blockchain.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method comprising:
determining, by a computing device of a vehicle, a first hash value based on a collection of information stored on the computing device of the vehicle; sending, by the computing device of the vehicle and to a second computing device, a request for a second hash value associated with the vehicle; receiving, by the computing device of the vehicle and from the second computing device, the second hash value; sending, by the computing device of the vehicle and to a third computing device, a request for a third hash value associated with the vehicle; receiving, by the computing device of the vehicle and from the third computing device, the third hash value; and determining, by the computing device of the vehicle and based on the first hash value, the second hash value, and the third hash value, whether to perform, based on at least a portion of the collection of information, an operation of the vehicle.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the second computing device and the third computing device stores at least a portion of a blockchain of a distributed ledger system.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second computing device is included in a second vehicle, and wherein the third computing device is included in a third vehicle.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving, from read-only memory associated with the vehicle, a fourth hash value; and based on determining that the first hash value corresponds to the fourth hash value, performing, based on at least the portion of the collection of information, the operation of the vehicle.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the sending the request for the second hash value associated with the vehicle is based on the determining that the first hash value corresponds to the fourth hash value, wherein the sending the request for the third hash value associated with the vehicle is based on the determining that the first hash value corresponds to the fourth hash value, and wherein the determining whether to perform the operation of the vehicle comprises determining whether to continue the operation.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving information input to the computing device of the vehicle; determining, based on the input information, the second hash value; and registering, to the second computing device, the second hash value.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the registering the second hash value comprises sending, to the second computing device, a record comprising:
the second hash value; and an identifier of the vehicle.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the collection of information stored on the computing device of the vehicle comprises software, and the determining whether to perform the operation of the vehicle comprises determining whether to execute the software.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
verifying, based on the third hash value, the second hash value; and based on determining that the first hash value corresponds to the verified second hash value, performing the operation of the vehicle.
10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
verifying, based on the third hash value, the second hash value; and based on determining that the first hash value is different from the verified second hash value, suspending the operation of the vehicle.
11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
based on the determining that the first hash value is different from the verified second hash value, one or more of:
determining a compromised part of the collection of information; or
sending a notification that the vehicle has been compromised.
12 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
based on determining that the second hash value is different from the third hash value, determining a version, of a hash value associated with the vehicle, as agreed to by computing devices of a distributed ledger system.
13 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
based on determining that the second hash value is different from the third hash value, suspending the operation of the vehicle.
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first hash value comprises a root hash value of a Merkle tree for the collection of information, wherein the second hash value comprises a root hash value of a Merkle tree, associated with the vehicle, stored by the second computing device, and wherein the third hash value comprises a root hash value of a Merkle tree, associated with the vehicle, stored by the third computing device.
15 . A system comprising:
a vehicle; and a computing device, of the vehicle, comprising one or more processors and memory, the memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device of the vehicle to:
determine a first hash value based on a collection of information stored on the computing device of the vehicle;
send, to a second computing device, a request for a second hash value associated with the vehicle;
receive, from the second computing device, the second hash value;
send, to a third computing device, a request for a third hash value associated with the vehicle;
receive, from the third computing device, the third hash value; and
determine, based on the first hash value, the second hash value, and the third hash value, whether to perform, based on at least a portion of the collection of information, an operation of the vehicle.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the computing device of the vehicle to:
verify, based on the third hash value, the second hash value; and based on determining that the first hash value corresponds to the verified second hash value, perform the operation of the vehicle.
17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the computing device of the vehicle to:
verify, based on the third hash value, the second hash value; and based on determining that the first hash value is different from the verified second hash value, suspend the operation of the vehicle.
18 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause a computing device of a vehicle to:
determine a first hash value based on a collection of information stored on the computing device of the vehicle; send, to a second computing device, a request for a second hash value associated with the vehicle; receive, from the second computing device, the second hash value; send, to a third computing device, a request for a third hash value associated with the vehicle; receive, from the third computing device, the third hash value; and determine, based on the first hash value, the second hash value, and the third hash value, whether to perform, based on at least a portion of the collection of information, an operation of the vehicle.
19 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the computing device of the vehicle to:
verify, based on the third hash value, the second hash value; and based on determining that the first hash value corresponds to the verified second hash value, perform the operation of the vehicle.
20 . The one or more non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the computing device of the vehicle to:
verify, based on the third hash value, the second hash value; and based on determining that the first hash value is different from the verified second hash value, suspend the operation of the vehicle.Cited by (0)
