Abstract
The invention provides compositions comprising one or more bacterial strains for use in a method of reducing the level of Enterobacteriaceae in the gastrointestinal tract.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 26 . (canceled)
. A method of reducing the level of Enterobacteriaceae in the gastrointestinal tract in a subject diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) comprising administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising a bacteria strain of the genus Blautia, wherein the bacteria strain comprises a 16S rRNA gene having at least 95% sequence identity to the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5, wherein the subject has an increased level of Enterobacteriaceae in the gastrointestinal tract, and wherein the administering is effective to reduce the level of Enterobacteriaceae in the gastrointestinal tract in the subject.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises from about 1×10 9 to about 1×10 12 colony forming units (CFU) of the bacteria strain.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises from about 1×10 3 to about 1×10 11 colony forming units (CFU) per gram of the bacteria strain with respect to total weight of the pharmaceutical composition.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the Enterobacteriaceae is E. coli.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the bacteria strain is viable.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the bacteria strain is lyophilized.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated for oral administration.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is encapsulated.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is an enteric formulation.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated for rectal administration.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated as a suppository.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the bacteria strain comprises a 16S rRNA gene having at least 97% sequence identity to the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the bacteria strain comprises a 16S rRNA gene having at least 98% sequence identity to the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the bacteria strain comprises a 16S rRNA gene having at least 99% sequence identity to the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the bacteria strain comprises a 16S rRNA gene having the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the bacteria strain is of the species Blautia hydrogenotrophica.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises a single bacteria strain of the genus Blautia.
. The method of claim 27 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises the bacteria strain of the genus Blautia as part of a microbial consortium.
. The method of claim 42 , wherein the bacteria strain is the species Blautia hydrogenotrophica strain deposited under accession number DSM 10507/14294.
. A method of treating bacterial infection in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising a bacteria strain of the genus Blautia , wherein the bacteria strain comprises a 16S rRNA gene having at least 95% sequence identity to the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5, wherein the bacterial infection is caused by pathogenic Enterobacteriaceae.Cited by (0)
