Abstract
A User Equipment (UE) de-multiplexes a paging indication, which precedes a Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) in time and is generated using the same sequence generation formula as that for generating a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS) in the SSB. From the de-multiplexed paging indication, the UE detects that it is paged for message reception and wakes up to receive the message in a next data reception period of the UE's DRX cycle.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network, comprising:
de-multiplexing a paging indication broadcast from a base station to a primary cell of the UE, wherein the paging indication precedes a Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) in time and is generated using a same sequence generation formula as that for generating a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS) in the SSB; detecting from the de-multiplexed paging indication that the UE is paged for reception of a message; and in response to the detecting, waking up from a sleep state to receive the message from the base station in a next data reception period of a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle of the UE.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the paging indication is multiplexed by code-division multiplexing a plurality of SSS blocks, each SSS block coded with a paging group identifier.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein de-multiplexing the paging indication further comprises:
multiplying the paging group identifier of the UE with the paging indication preceding the SSB.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the paging indication is multiplexed by frequency-division multiplexing a plurality of SSS blocks, each SSS block transmitted in a frequency location that identifies a paging group.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the paging indication is multiplexed by time-division multiplexing a plurality of SSS blocks, each SSS block transmitted in a time location that identifies a paging group.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the paging indication is broadcast by the base station at a fixed time interval larger than a time interval for SSB burst transmission.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the paging indication is broadcast by the base station at a fixed time interval equal to a time interval for SSB burst transmission.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
detecting from the de-multiplexed paging indication that the UE is not paged for message reception; staying in a sleep state throughout the next data reception period of the Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle; and using the de-multiplexed paging indication for tuning reception of the SSB.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the paging indication occupies one symbol time preceding a corresponding SSB.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wireless network is a Fifth Generation New Radio (5G NR) network.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
