Pandemic garment

Abstract

Disclosed is a garment to be worn by a person that protects against disease-causing microorganisms and that provides for convenient dispensing of sanitizer as needed.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A garment to be worn by a person comprising:
 a torso portion having a neck opening;   a collar attached to the torso portion proximate the neck opening, the collar configured to stand substantially upright and to substantially encircle the neck of the person wearing the garment;   two arm portions attached to the torso portion;   a hood portion attached to the torso portion or attached to the collar, the hood portion open around the eyes of the person wearing the garment and comprising a wrap-around face mask comprising a nose piece, the wrap around face mask and nose piece configured to cover the nose and bottom portion of the face of the person wearing the garment; and   a sanitizer dispenser having a sanitizer outlet, the sanitizer dispenser disposed: (i) in a pocket that defines an internal cavity, the pocket located on the torso portion or located on an arm portion, the pocket having an opening between the internal cavity and an outer layer of the pocket, the sanitizer outlet accessible from said opening, the pocket optionally comprising a moveable flap configured to cover the opening, (ii) on a cuff of an arm portion, the cuff having a foldable edge section that comprises a cuff opening, the foldable edge section configured to cover the sanitizer dispenser and align the sanitizer outlet with the cuff opening.   
     
     
         2 . The garment of  claim 1  wherein the hood is retractable and wherein the collar comprises an internal storage cavity that optionally extends into the torso portion, the internal storage cavity configured to store the retractable hood, the internal storage cavity accessible from the outside surface of the collar. 
     
     
         3 . The garment of  claim 1  wherein the wrap-around face mask is detachably connected to a side of the hood. 
     
     
         4 . The garment of  claim 3  wherein the wrap around face mask comprises a stretchable material sufficient to obtain a tight fit against the nose and bottom portion of the face of the person wearing the garment. 
     
     
         5 . The garment of  claim 1  wherein the torso portion, the collar, the two arm portions, the hood portion, the wrap-around nose piece, or any combination of the foregoing, comprise an antimicrobial coating. 
     
     
         6 . The garment of  claim 1  wherein the sanitizer dispenser comprises a sanitizer wipe or a sanitizer liquid. 
     
     
         7 . The garment of  claim 1  wherein the sanitizer dispenser is disposed as in (i) and comprises a tube having a dispensing end, the tube containing liquid sanitizer, and wherein the sanitizer outlet comprises the tube dispensing end that protrudes from pocket opening. 
     
     
         8 . The garment of  claim 7  wherein the tube dispensing end comprises a removable cap or dispensing valve or both. 
     
     
         9 . The garment of  claim 8  wherein the end of the tube distal from the dispensing end is attached to and in fluid communication with a bladder containing the sanitizer, the bladder configured to urge the sanitizer into the tube and out the dispensing end when pressure is applied directly to the outside surface of the bladder. 
     
     
         10 . The garment of  claim 1  wherein, the when the sanitizer is a liquid, the pocket in (i) comprises a sight window through which the amount of sanitizer in the sanitizer dispenser can be determined. 
     
     
         11 . A garment to be worn by a person comprising:
 a torso portion having a neck opening;   two arm portions attached to the torso portion;   a collar having a first side edge and a second side edge, the collar attached to the torso portion proximate the neck opening, the collar having a down position for normal wear and configured to have an upright position wherein the collar extends away from the torso portion and covers at least a portion of the ears and back of the head of the person wearing the garment,   the collar comprising an internal hollow portion that has an opening at the first side edge of the collar, and an internal sleeve having a first end attached to the internal hollow portion and a second end accessible from the opening, the internal sleeve configured to extend from the first side edge of the collar to the second side edge of the collar and cover the nose and lower portion of the face of the person wearing the garment, the second end of the internal sleeve and the second side edge of the collar adapted for attachment to each other.   
     
     
         12 . The garment of  claim 11  wherein the internal sleeve comprises a stretchable material sufficient to obtain a tight fit against the nose and bottom portion of the face of the person wearing the garment, and optionally wherein the torso portion, the collar, the two arm portions, the internal sleeve, or any combination of the foregoing, comprise an antimicrobial coating. 
     
     
         13 . A garment to be worn by a person comprising:
 a torso portion having a neck opening;   two arm portions attached to the torso portion;   a collar attached to the torso portion proximate the neck opening, the collar having a first side edge, a second side edge, and a circumferential edge distal from where the collar is attached to the torso portion, the collar having a down position for normal wear and configured to have an upright position wherein the collar extends away from the torso portion and covers at least a portion of the ears and a portion of the back of the head and the nose and bottom portion of the face of the person wearing the garment, the first side edge and second side edge connected together by a zipper when the collar is in the upright position,   the collar comprising a tightening member located within the collar proximate the circumferential edge of the collar and extending around the collar from the first edge to the second edge, the tightening member adjustable to provide tight fit of the upright collar to the person wearing the garment.   
     
     
         14 . The garment of  claim 13  wherein the tightening member is an elastic cord comprising a lock to secure the upright collar in the tight fit position, and optionally wherein the torso portion, the collar, the two arm portions, or any combination of the foregoing, comprise an antimicrobial coating
