Abstract
An ostomy appliance according to certain embodiments generally includes a pouch, an adhesive collar, and a release liner. The adhesive collar includes an adhesive to secure the pouch around a stoma. The release liner is configured to allow manipulation of the adhesive through the pouch. The adhesive collar is attached to the pouch around a stomal opening for fitting around the stoma, and the adhesive in the adhesive collar is attached to an inside of the pouch.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 12 . (canceled)
13 . An ostomy appliance, comprising:
a pouch; and an adhesive collar comprising an adhesive to secure the pouch around a stoma; and a release liner configured to allow manipulation of the adhesive through the pouch; wherein the adhesive collar is attached to the pouch around a stomal opening for fitting around the stoma, and the adhesive in the adhesive collar is attached to an inside of the pouch.
14 . The ostomy appliance of claim 13 , wherein the release liner is segmented.
15 . The ostomy appliance of claim 13 , further comprising a release coated sheet configured to prevent blocking of the pouch during storage and/or use.
16 . The ostomy appliance of claim 15 , wherein the release coated sheet is between the adhesive collar and a front panel of the pouch.
17 . The ostomy appliance of claim 13 , wherein the adhesive collar is shaped to increase adhered skin area by the adhesive to the adhesive collar in a 3 o'clock position of the stoma and a 9 o'clock position of the stoma, and to reduce adhered skin area at a 12 o'clock position of the stoma.
18 . The ostomy appliance of claim 16 , wherein the adhesive collar is further shaped to increase adhered skin area by the adhesive to the adhesive collar at a 6 o'clock position of the stoma.
19 . An ostomy appliance, comprising:
a pouch comprising a front panel; an adhesive collar comprising an adhesive to secure the pouch around a stoma; and a stoma viewing mechanism including a partially or totally opaque sheet of material, said partially or totally opaque sheet of material comprises a flap; wherein the flap attaches at a flap peripheral edge to a panel peripheral edge of the front panel; wherein the flap has a covering pouch portion covering a covered portion of the front panel of the pouch that has more than 50% of its perimeter of the flap peripheral edge detached from the front panel; and wherein the flap is configured to tuck or fold into the pouch to maintain a stoma viewing position without being continuously contacted by an opening force or mechanism.
20 . The ostomy appliance of claim 19 , wherein the flap attached at the flap peripheral edge to the panel peripheral edge of the front panel of the pouch that has more than 65% of its perimeter detached from the front panel of the pouch.
21 . The ostomy appliance of claim 19 , wherein the flap reveals more than 60% of the covered portion of the front panel of the pouch when manually manipulated to the stoma viewing position by two or fewer digits of a hand.
22 . The ostomy appliance of claim 19 , wherein the stoma viewing mechanism can conceal and/or hide the stoma and the pouch contents as needed.
23 . The ostomy appliance of claim 19 , wherein the flap is held closed by adhering to the front panel of the pouch via a pressure sensitive adhesive, hook and loop, or a sleeve mechanism.
24 . An ostomy appliance, comprising:
a pouch; and an adhesive collar comprising an adhesive to secure the pouch around a stoma; wherein the adhesive collar is shaped to increase adhered skin area by the adhesive to the adhesive collar in a 3 o'clock position of the stoma and a 9 o'clock position of the stoma, and to reduce adhered skin area at a 12 o'clock position of the stoma.
25 . The ostomy appliance of claim 24 , wherein the adhesive collar is further shaped to increase adhered skin area by the adhesive to the adhesive collar at a 6 o'clock position of the stoma.
26 . The ostomy appliance of claim 24 , further comprising a segmented release liner configured to allow manipulation of the adhesive through the pouch.
27 . The ostomy appliance of claim 24 , further comprising a release coated sheet configured to prevent blocking of the pouch during storage and/or use.Cited by (0)
