Abstract

An icon receptacle is disposed along a depth aspect, and one or more icons are disposed within the icon receptacle, one of which is a stack item.

         3 . A method comprising:
 at a computer system that includes a display device:
 displaying, in a three-dimensional user interface via the display device, a window that has a first orientation relative to a viewing region; 
 while displaying the window that has the first orientation relative to the viewing region, detecting an input directed to a user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface; and 
 in response to detecting the input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface, shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface so that a first portion of the window has the first orientation relative to the viewing region and a second portion of the window has a second orientation relative to the viewing region, wherein the second orientation is different from the first orientation. 
   
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein, after shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface, the first portion of the window is displayed in a first plane having a height and a width at a first depth and the second portion of the window is displayed between the first depth and a second depth. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the second depth is less than the first depth. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein, after shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface, the first portion of the window is flat and the second portion of the window is curved. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface includes gradually increasing the size of the second portion of the window and gradually decreasing the size of first portion of the window. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface includes changing a location of the first portion of the window in the three-dimensional user interface and changing a location of the second portion of the window in the three-dimensional user interface. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface is at least a portion of the window. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the user input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface includes dragging the window. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising:
 while displaying the second portion of the window having the second orientation relative to the viewing region, detecting an input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface or another user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface;   in response to detecting the input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface or another user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface, shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface so that the first portion of the window has the first orientation relative to the viewing region and the second portion of the window has a first orientation relative to the viewing region.   
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising, after shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface, displaying a representation of the window in the second orientation. 
     
     
         13 . A device comprising:
 a display device;   a processing device coupled to the display device to:
 display, in a three-dimensional user interface via the display device, a window that has a first orientation relative to a viewing region; 
 while displaying the window that has the first orientation relative to the viewing region, detect an input directed to a user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface; and 
 in response to detecting the input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface, shift the window in the three-dimensional user interface so that a first portion of the window has the first orientation relative to the viewing region and a second portion of the window has a second orientation relative to the viewing region, wherein the second orientation is different from the first orientation. 
   
     
     
         14 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein, after shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface, the first portion of the window is displayed in a first plane having a height and a width at a first depth and the second portion of the window is displayed between the first depth and a second depth. 
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein, after shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface, the first portion of the window is flat and the second portion of the window is curved. 
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface is at least a portion of the window. 
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 16 , wherein the user input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface includes dragging the window. 
     
     
         18 . A non-transitory memory having instruction encoded thereon which, when executed by a processing device of a device including a display device causes the device to:
 display, in a three-dimensional user interface via the display device, a window that has a first orientation relative to a viewing region;   while displaying the window that has the first orientation relative to the viewing region, detect an input directed to a user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface; and   in response to detecting the input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface, shift the window in the three-dimensional user interface so that a first portion of the window has the first orientation relative to the viewing region and a second portion of the window has a second orientation relative to the viewing region, wherein the second orientation is different from the first orientation.   
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory memory of  claim 18 , wherein, after shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface, the first portion of the window is displayed in a first plane having a height and a width at a first depth and the second portion of the window is displayed between the first depth and a second depth. 
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory memory of  claim 18 , wherein, after shifting the window in the three-dimensional user interface, the first portion of the window is flat and the second portion of the window is curved. 
     
     
         21 . The non-transitory memory of  claim 18 , wherein the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface is at least a portion of the window. 
     
     
         22 . The non-transitory memory of  claim 21 , wherein the user input directed to the user interface element in the three-dimensional user interface includes dragging the window.
