Abstract

A vape device system including a payload reservoir that is identified by a payload identifier and that is configured to hold a substance for atomization. A processor is configured to determine an operational setting based on at least one of the payload identifier and a secondary data, which may include user information, prescription information, location information, payload information, historical vape device usage information, and historical payload reservoir information. A vape device system, and method of using the same, that includes a vape device and a computing device that includes the processor. A method of controlling a vape device including determining an operational setting of the vape device based on the payload identifier and/or secondary data. The operational settings may include a duty cycle setting, a temperature setting, an operational time duration, a dosage setting, and a security setting.

What is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is as follows: 
     
         1 . A vape device system, comprising:
 an application configured to be installed on a personal computing device, wherein the application is configured to enable the personal computing device to (i) present a dashboard that enables a user to select a locate button and (ii) wirelessly transmit a locate signal responsive to selection of the locate button; and   a vape device comprising:
 a wireless transceiver configured to receive the locate signal from the personal computing device; 
 an output device configured to provide an audible output; 
 a microcontroller operatively coupled to the wireless transceiver and the output device, wherein the microcontroller is configured to transmit a control signal to the output device responsive to receipt of the locate signal from the wireless transceiver to thereby cause the output device to provide the audible output to assist the user in locating the vape device. 
   
     
     
         2 . The vape device system of  claim 1 , wherein the output device comprises one of an audio speaker and a buzzer. 
     
     
         3 . The vape device system of  claim 1 , wherein the vape device comprises a cartridge releasably connected to a control assembly, and wherein the control assembly contains the wireless transceiver, the microcontroller, and the output device. 
     
     
         4 . The vape device system of  claim 1 , wherein the dashboard also displays information on operation of the vape device. 
     
     
         5 . The vape device system of  claim 1 , wherein the dashboard also displays an indication that an update is available for the application. 
     
     
         6 . The vape device system of  claim 1 , wherein the dashboard also displays an indication that an update is available for the vape device. 
     
     
         7 . The vape device system of  claim 1 , wherein the dashboard also enables the user to actuate a heat control button, wherein the application is configured to enable the personal computing device to wirelessly transmit an operational setting with heat control information responsive to actuation of the heat control button, and wherein the vape device further comprises:
 a payload reservoir configured to contain a payload to be vaporized;   a power source configured to generate a power signal; and   an atomizer configured to receive the power signal and vaporize a portion of the payload;   wherein the wireless transceiver is configured to receive the operational setting from the personal computing device, and wherein the microcontroller is configured to control the power source to account for the operational setting.   
     
     
         8 . The vape device system of  claim 7 , wherein the operational setting comprises one of a duty cycle setting, a temperature setting, an operational time duration, and a dosage setting. 
     
     
         9 . The vape device system of  claim 1 , wherein the dashboard also enables the user to actuate a button to either lock or unlock the vape device, wherein the application is configured to enable the personal computing device to wirelessly transmit an operational setting responsive to actuation of the button, and wherein the vape device further comprises:
 a payload reservoir configured to contain a payload to be vaporized;   a power source configured to generate a power signal; and   an atomizer configured to receive the power signal and vaporize a portion of the payload;   wherein the wireless transceiver is configured to receive the operational setting from the personal computing device, and wherein the microcontroller is configured to control the power source to account for the operational setting.   
     
     
         10 . The vape device system of  claim 9 , wherein the operational setting comprises instructions to either enable operation of the vape device if the button is actuated to indicate that the vape device is unlocked or to disable operation of the vape device if the button is actuated to indicate that the vape device is locked. 
     
     
         11 . A vape device system, comprising:
 an application configured to be installed on a personal computing device, wherein the application is configured to enable the personal computing device to (i) present a dashboard that enables a user to select a locate button and (ii) wirelessly transmit a locate signal responsive to selection of the locate button; and   a vape device comprising:
 a payload reservoir configured to contain a payload to be vaporized; 
 a power source configured to generate a power signal; 
 an atomizer configured to receive the power signal and vaporize a portion of the payload; 
 an activation mechanism configured to generate an activation signal; 
 an output device configured to provide an audible output; 
 a wireless transceiver configured to receive the locate signal from the personal computing device; and 
 a microcontroller operatively coupled to the power source, the activation mechanism, the output device, and the wireless transceiver, wherein the microcontroller is configured to (i) transmit a first control signal to the power source responsive to receipt of the activation signal from the activation mechanism to thereby cause the power source to transmit the power signal to the atomizer to enable vaporization of the portion of the payload and (ii) transmit a second control signal to the output device responsive to receipt of the locate signal from the wireless transceiver to thereby cause the output device to provide the audible output to assist the user in locating the vape device. 
   
     
     
         12 . The vape device system of  claim 11 , wherein the output device comprises one of an audio speaker and a buzzer. 
     
     
         13 . The vape device system of  claim 11 , wherein the vape device comprises a cartridge releasably connected to a control assembly, wherein the cartridge contains the payload reservoir, and wherein the control assembly contains the power source, the atomizer, the activation mechanism, the output device, the wireless transceiver, and the microcontroller. 
     
     
         14 . The vape device system of  claim 11 , wherein the dashboard also displays information on operation of the vape device. 
     
     
         15 . The vape device system of  claim 11 , wherein the dashboard also displays an indication that an update is available for the application. 
     
     
         16 . The vape device system of  claim 11 , wherein the dashboard also displays an indication that an update is available for the vape device. 
     
     
         17 . The vape device system of  claim 11 , wherein the dashboard also enables the user to actuate a heat control button, wherein the application is configured to enable the personal computing device to wirelessly transmit an operational setting with heat control information responsive to actuation of the heat control button, wherein the wireless transceiver is configured to receive the operational setting from the personal computing device, and wherein the microcontroller is configured to control the power source to account for the operational setting. 
     
     
         18 . The vape device system of  claim 17 , wherein the operational setting comprises one of a duty cycle setting, a temperature setting, an operational time duration, and a dosage setting. 
     
     
         19 . The vape device system of  claim 11 , wherein the dashboard also enables the user to actuate a button to either lock or unlock the vape device, wherein the application is configured to enable the personal computing device to wirelessly transmit an operational setting responsive to actuation of the button, wherein the wireless transceiver is configured to receive the operational setting from the personal computing device, and wherein the microcontroller is configured to control the power source to account for the operational setting. 
     
     
         20 . The vape device system of  claim 19 , wherein the operational setting comprises instructions to either enable operation of the vape device if the button is actuated to indicate that the vape device is unlocked or to disable operation of the vape device if the button is actuated to indicate that the vape device is locked.
