Abstract
Provided herein are devices, systems, kits and methods for treating skin conditions, ailments or diseases, such as skin warts. In some examples, a device for treating warts comprises a reservoir that includes a cantharidin formulation, and an applicator device in fluid communication with the reservoir that delivers the cantharidin formulation to a subject.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 76 . (canceled)
77 . A formulation comprising:
cantharidin; acetone; ethanol; a film-forming agent; and a gelling agent; wherein the formulation comprises 5% (w/v) or less of diethyl ether.
78 . The formulation of claim 77 , wherein the formulation comprises 1% (w/v) or less of diethyl ether.
79 . The formulation of claim 77 , wherein the formulation is substantially free of diethyl ether.
80 . The formulation of claim 77 , wherein the gelling agent is selected from the group consisting of dextran, hydroxypropyl cellulose, and ethyl cellulose.
81 . The formulation of claim 77 , wherein the film-forming agent is selected from the group consisting of nitrocellulose, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, and carboxymethyl cellulose.
82 . The formulation of claim 77 further comprising one or more plasticizers.
83 . The formulation of claim 82 , wherein the one or more plasticizers comprise camphor and/or castor oil.
84 . The formulation of claim 77 further comprising a flavorant that induces a bitter taste to prevent or deter licking and/or ingestion of the formulation by a subject.
85 . The formulation of claim 84 , wherein the flavorant is selected from the group consisting of denatonium, amarogentin, gentiopicrin, sucrose octaacetate, quercetin, brucine, and quassin.
86 . The formulation of claim 77 further comprising a colorant that enables visible detection of the formulation by the subject.
87 . The formulation of claim 86 , wherein the colorant is selected from the group consisting of D&C violet, isosulfan blue, methylene blue, methyl red, methyl orange, congo red, alizarin yellow, bromocresol green, and gentian violet.
88 . The formulation of claim 77 , wherein the formulation has a viscosity of more than 5 centipoise and less than 100 centipoise.
89 . The formulation of claim 77 , wherein the formulation comprises 55% (w/v) or more of acetone; and 30% (w/v) or more of ethanol.
90 . The formulation of claim 77 , comprising:
cantharidin; acetone; ethanol; nitrocellulose; and hydroxypropyl cellulose.
91 . The formulation of claim 90 further comprising camphor and castor oil.
92 . The formulation of claim 91 further comprising denatonium benzoate and/or gentian violet
93 . A formulation comprising:
cantharidin; hydroxypropyl cellulose; nitrocellulose; and one or more solvents; wherein the formulation comprises 5% (w/v) or less of diethyl ether.
94 . The formulation of claim 93 , wherein the formulation comprises 1% (w/v) or less of diethyl ether.
95 . The formulation of claim 93 , wherein the formulation is substantially free of diethyl ether.
96 . A formulation comprising:
cantharidin in amount from 0.001-7% (w/v); ethanol in an amount up to 99% (w/v); acetone in an amount up to 99% (w/v); hydroxypropyl cellulose in an amount up to 10% (w/v); nitrocellulose in an amount up to 10% (w/v); castor oil in an amount up to 5% (w/v); and camphor in an amount up to 5% (w/v).
97 . The formulation of claim 96 further comprising:
denatonium benzoate in an amount from 0.00001-1% (w/v); and/or
gentian violet in an amount from 0.00001-1% (w/v).
98 . A method of treating a subject having a skin lesion comprising administering a composition of claim 77 to at least a portion of the skin lesion.
99 . The method of claim 98 , wherein the skin lesion is caused by molluscum contagiosum.
100 . An applicator device for delivering a cantharidin formulation to a subject comprising:
a reservoir comprising a cavity containing a cantharidin formulation of claim 77 ; and an applicator unit in fluid communication with the reservoir.Cited by (0)
