Abstract

In accordance with this disclosure, a system and method for remotely enabling proximity-based authentication is provided. A computing device initiates a secure server based on proximity-based communication when the computing device is in a vicinity of the secure server. The computer device then prompts proximity-based authentication to establish a secure connection with the secure server. As a result of the proximity-based authentication, the computing device is authenticated and locally stores a secure token sent from the secure server in response to the proximity-based authentication. Once the authenticated computing device communicates with the secure server, remote authentication is initiated to the secure server and the authenticated computing device is remotely connected to the secure server if the stored secure token is properly accepted by the secure server for authentication.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A system for accessing a secure server from a remote location, comprising:
a secure server located in a secure location and configured to require authentication for computing devices to access to; and a computing device located in a physical vicinity of the secure server and communicatively coupled to the secure server through physical proximity-based communication, wherein the computing device initiates an initial authenticated pairing with the secure server and the computing device receives a secure token from the secure server in response to the authenticated pairing and stores the secure token on the computing device.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the proximity-based communication further comprises at least one of wired or wireless communication.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the initial authenticated pairing is facilitated by sending an ID and password from the computing device to the secure server and the computing device is allowed to access the secure server in response to matching of the ID and password sent from the computing device to an ID and a password maintained in the secure server.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the computing device further comprises an authenticator configured to initiate a remote authenticated pairing between the secure server and the computing device when the computing device remotely communicates with the secure server and to send an ID and a password, and the secure token to the secure server.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the computing device becomes allowed to access the secure server in response to matching of the ID, password, and secure token sent from the computing device to an ID and password maintained in the secure server.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the initial authenticated pairing is facilitated by the computing device being in the physical vicinity of the secure server.

7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the secure token is a form of one-time authentication passcode seed.

8 . A system for remotely enabling proximity-based authentication, comprising:
a computing device; and a server located in a secure location and configured to initiate proximity-based authentication with the computing device, further comprising:
 a proximity security module configured to enable a proximity-based communication with the computing device when the computing device is within the secure location;
an authentication facility communicatively coupled to the proximity security module and configured to locally authenticate the computing device when the computing device is within the secure location and to remotely authenticate the computing device when the computing device is outside of the secure location; and
a server facility communicatively coupled to the authentication facility and configured to provide access the locally and remotely authenticated computing device database of the secure server.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the authentication facility is further configured to match an ID and a password received from the computing device for the local authentication.

10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the secure server provides a secure token to the locally authenticated computing device for storing in response to the local authentication.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the authentication facility is further configured to match an ID, a password, and the secure token from the computing device for the remote authentication.

12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the secure token is a form of one-time authentication passcode seed.

13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the proximity-based communication is initiated when the computing device is initiated when the computing device is within the secure location.

14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the proximity-based communication further comprises at least one of wired or wireless communication.

         15 .- 20 . (canceled)
