Abstract

Non-sliding orthodontic appliances may include an archwire having male fasteners for locking in place with brackets in a non-sliding manner and interproximal loops for exerting forces on the brackets. Appropriate forces may be calculated according to vectors between initial and ideal tooth positions. The brackets may be transferred to a patient's teeth using indirect bonding trays which contain slots for holding and aligning each bracket. The trays may include integrated handles for facilitating handling, may be sectioned into smaller pieces for easier application, and/or may be labeled for facilitating proper registration. Superposition of a digital placement plan and clinical model after bonding may illustrate the accuracy of bracket placement. The archwire may comprise atraumatic ends to avoid patient discomfort. A color registration system can be used to facilitate the attachment of the archwire to the brackets. The archwire may be locked into place with the brackets using crimpable stops.

Claims

1 . (canceled)

2 . A custom archform configured to follow a dental arch segment of a patient, the archform comprising:
a plurality of bracket connectors, wherein each bracket connector of the plurality of bracket connectors corresponds to a tooth of the dental arch segment and is configured to be coupled with an orthodontic bracket disposed on a lingual surface of the tooth of the dental arch segment to prevent relative sliding between the bracket connector and the orthodontic bracket; a plurality of interproximal loops, wherein each interproximal loop of the plurality of interproximal loops corresponds to each and every interdental space of the dental arch segment and is disposed between a pair of bracket connectors of the plurality of bracket connectors; and a first terminal end comprising a bulb shape; wherein the archform comprises a custom memorized shape that is configured to move teeth of the dental arch segment from initial positions to digitally planned positions when the archform is deformed from the custom memorized shape and coupled to orthodontic brackets disposed on lingual surfaces of the teeth of the dental arch segment.

3 . The archform of claim 2 , wherein the first terminal end is disposed at a first distal end of the archform.

4 . The archform of claim 2 , further comprising a second terminal end comprising a second bulb shape.

5 . The archform of claim 4 , wherein the first terminal end is disposed at a first distal end of the archform and the second terminal end is disposed at a second distal end of the archform.

6 . The archform of claim 2 , wherein the bulb shape is configured to be atraumatic.

7 . The archform of claim 2 , wherein at least one of the plurality of bracket connectors comprises a cylindrical tube shape, the cylindrical tube shape having a periphery that is larger than a periphery of adjacent portions of the archform.

8 . The archform of claim 7 , wherein the at least one of the plurality of bracket connectors is disposed at a position on the archform corresponding to a lower anterior tooth of the dental arch segment.

9 . The archform of claim 2 , wherein at least one of the plurality of bracket connectors comprises a crimpable stop attached to the archform, the crimpable stop having a periphery that is larger than a periphery of adjacent portions of the archform.

10 . The archform of claim 2 , wherein at least one of the plurality of bracket connectors comprises a loop.

11 . A custom archform configured to follow a dental arch segment of a patient, the archform comprising:
a plurality of bracket connectors, wherein each bracket connector of the plurality of bracket connectors corresponds to a tooth of the dental arch segment and is configured to be coupled with an orthodontic bracket disposed on a lingual surface of the tooth of the dental arch segment to prevent relative sliding between the bracket connector and the orthodontic bracket; a plurality of interproximal loops, wherein each interproximal loop of the plurality of interproximal loops corresponds to each and every interdental space of the dental arch segment and is disposed between a pair of bracket connectors of the plurality of bracket connectors; and a first rounded, atraumatic terminal end; wherein the archform comprises a custom memorized shape that is configured to move teeth of the dental arch segment from initial positions to digitally planned positions when the archform is deformed from the custom memorized shape and coupled to orthodontic brackets disposed on lingual surfaces of the teeth of the dental arch segment.

12 . The archform of claim 11 , wherein the first rounded, atraumatic terminal end is disposed at a first distal end of the archform.

13 . The archform of claim 11 , further comprising a second rounded, atraumatic terminal end.

14 . The archform of claim 13 , wherein the first rounded, atraumatic terminal end is disposed at a first distal end of the archform and the second rounded, atraumatic terminal end is disposed at a second distal end of the archform.

15 . The archform of claim 11 , wherein at least one of the plurality of bracket connectors comprises a cylindrical tube shape, the cylindrical tube shape having a periphery that is larger than a periphery of adjacent portions of the archform.
