Recordation of Device Usage to Blockchains

Abstract

A personal blockchain is generated as a cloud-based software service in a blockchain environment. The personal blockchain immutably archives usage of any device, perhaps as requested by a user. However, some of the usage may be authorized for public disclosure, while other usage may be designated as private and restricted from public disclosure. The public disclosure may permit public ledgering by still other blockchains, thus providing two-way public/private ledgering for improved record keeping. Private usage, though, may only be documented by the personal blockchain.

1 . A method executed by a device providing a private blockchain recordation that documents a short messaging service (SMS) text message, the method comprising:
 receiving, by the device, the SMS text message;   receiving, by the device, a private blockchain command specifying the private blockchain recordation documenting the SMS message;   determining, by the device, a blockchain privacy file extension as a privacy mechanism associated with the private blockchain recordation;   identifying, by the device; a usage information that is associated with the SMS message specified by the private blockchain command for the private blockchain recordation;   generating, by the device, a usage hash value representing the usage information by hashing the usage information using an electronic representation of a hashing algorithm;   incorporating, by the device, the usage hash value representing the usage information into a blockchain block of data associated with a blockchain; and   appending, by the device, the blockchain privacy file extension as the privacy mechanism to the blockchain block of data associated with the blockchain.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising querying an electronic database for the usage information, the electronic database electronically associating the usage information to the blockchain privacy file extension. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising querying an electronic database for the usage information, the electronic database electronically associating the usage information to the privacy mechanism. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising generating a graphical control representing the private blockchain recordation. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising generating a graphical control representing the private blockchain command. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising associating the blockchain block of data to a device identifier that uniquely identifies the device. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising associating the blockchain block of data to a user identifier that uniquely identifies the user.
