Abstract
Disclosed are compositions and methods for their use that include a combination of Leontopodium alpinum extract, Halidrys siliquosa extract, vegetable amino acids, niacinamide, hexylresorcinol, Pinus pinaster extract, Betula alba extract, Albizia julibrissin bark extract, hydrolyzed Candida saitoana extract, Lentinus edodes mycelium extract, and/or Opuntia tuna fruit extract.

47 . A method of treating skin inflammation, the method comprising topically applying to inflamed skin a composition comprising an effective amount of hexylresorcinol to reduce protein glycation in the inflamed skin so as to treat the skin inflammation.
48 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the inflamed skin treated with the composition has a reduced amount of glycatated proteins as compared with the inflamed skin not treated with the composition.
49 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the inflamed skin is identified as having an accumulation of glycated proteins prior to topical application of the composition.
50 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition comprises 0.1 wt. % to 5 wt. % of hexylresorcinol.
51 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition further comprises:
ascorbic acid or an ester of ascorbic acid; and tocopherol or tocopheryl acetate.
52 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition further comprises water.
53 . The method of claim 52 , wherein the composition comprises 55 wt. % to 80 wt. % water.
54 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition is anhydrous.
55 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition is an emulsion.
56 . The method of claim 55 , wherein the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion.
57 . The method of claim 55 , wherein the emulsion is a water-in-oil emulsion.
58 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition is a gel.
59 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition is an ointment.
60 . The method of claim 47 , wherein the composition is not applied to hyperpigmented skin.
