Enhanced Claims Damage Estimation Using Aggregate Display
Abstract
Systems and methods provide for an automated system for analyzing damage to process claims associated with an insured item, such as a vehicle. An enhanced claims processing server may analyze damage associated with the insured item using photos/video transmitted to the server from a user device (e.g., a mobile device). The enhanced claims processing server may submit a signal that locks one or more portions of an application on the mobile device used to submit the photos/videos. The mobile device may receive feedback from the server regarding the acceptability of submitted photos/video. The photos may further be annotated using, for example, a touch screen display. An estimate, such as a cost estimate, may be determined for the damage associated with the insured item based on the photos and/or annotations.

obtaining, by a mobile computing device, instruction data indicating a damaged portion of an item; obtaining, by the mobile computing device, an indication of a perspective view of the damaged portion of the item, wherein the perspective view corresponds to the instruction data; generating, by the mobile computing device, a graphical visual aid based on the instruction data and the indication of the perspective view, the graphical visual aid comprising at least one visual marker indicating a positioning of the mobile computing device relative to the damaged portion of the item according to the indicated perspective view; displaying, by the mobile computing device, a view of the item and the graphical visual aid; capturing, by the mobile computing device and when the mobile computing device is in the position relative to the damaged portion of the item indicated by the graphical visual aid based on the indicated perspective view, an image of the damaged portion of the item indicated in the instruction data; transmitting, by the mobile computing device, the image; receiving, by the mobile computing device, information generated based on the image and associated with the item; receiving, by the mobile computing device, input data indicating a request to view the information associated with the item; and displaying, by the mobile computing device and in response to the input data, the information.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving, by the mobile computing device, notification data indicating that the image is not acceptable; and displaying, by the mobile computing device, a notification generated based on the notification data.
3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
displaying, by the mobile computing device, a second graphical visual aid comprising at least one second visual marker indicating a positioning of the mobile computing device relative to the item; capturing, by the mobile computing device and when the mobile computing device is in the position indicated by the second graphical visual aid, a second image of the damaged portion of the item indicated in the notification data; and transmitting, by the mobile computing device, the second image.
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the notification data indicates that the image is blurry.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining, by the mobile computing device, that the image fails to meet at least one quality criteria.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the at least one quality criteria comprises a quality criterion related to blurriness.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying, by the mobile computing device, thumbnail images of images captured by the mobile computing device.
8 . A mobile computing device, comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the mobile computing device to:
obtain instruction data indicating a damaged portion of an item;
obtaining an indication of a perspective view of the damaged portion of the item, wherein the perspective view corresponds to the instruction data;
generate a graphical visual aid based on the instruction data and the indication of the perspective view, the graphical visual aid comprising at least one visual marker indicating a positioning of the mobile computing device relative to the damaged portion of the item according to the indicated perspective view;
display a view of the item and the graphical visual aid;
capture, when the mobile computing device is in the position relative to the damaged portion of the item indicated by the graphical visual aid based on the indicated perspective view, an image of the damaged portion of the item indicated in the instruction data;
transmit the image;
receive information generated based on the image and related to the item;
receive input data indicating a request to view information associated with the item; and
display, in response to the input data, the information.
9 . The mobile computing device of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the mobile computing device to:
receive notification data indicating that the image is not acceptable; and display a notification generated based on the notification data.
10 . The mobile computing device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the mobile computing device to:
display a second graphical visual aid comprising at least one second visual marker indicating a positioning of the mobile computing device relative to the item; capture, when the mobile computing device is in the position indicated by the second graphical visual aid, a second image of the damaged portion of the item indicated in the notification data; and transmit the second image.
11 . The mobile computing device of claim 9 , wherein the notification data indicates that the image is blurry.
12 . The mobile computing device of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the mobile computing device to determine that the image fails to meet at least one quality criteria.
13 . The mobile computing device of claim 12 , wherein the at least one quality criteria comprises a quality criterion related to blurriness.
14 . The mobile computing device of claim 8 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the mobile computing device to display thumbnail images of images captured by the mobile computing device related to the item.
15 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform steps via a mobile computing device, the steps comprising:
obtaining instruction data indicating a damaged portion of an item; obtaining an indication of a perspective view of the damaged portion of the item, wherein the perspective view corresponds to the instruction data; generating a graphical visual aid based on the instruction data and the indication of the perspective view, the graphical visual aid comprising at least one visual marker indicating a positioning relative to the damaged portion of the item and according to the indicated perspective view; displaying a view of the item and the graphical visual aid; capturing, when the mobile computing device is in the position relative to the damaged portion of the item indicated by the graphical visual aid based on the indicated perspective view and the at least one visual marker, an image of the damaged portion of the item indicated in the instruction data; transmitting the image; receiving information s generated based on the image and associated with the item; receiving input data indicating a request to view information associated with the item; and displaying, in response to the input data, the information.
16 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to perform steps comprising:
receiving notification data indicating that the image is not acceptable; and displaying a notification generated based on the notification data.
17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to perform steps comprising:
displaying a second graphical visual aid comprising at least one second visual marker indicating a positioning of a computing device relative to the item; capturing, based on the display of the item and a position indicated by the second graphical visual aid, a second image of the damaged portion of the item indicated in the notification data; and transmitting the second image.
18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the notification data indicates that the image is blurry.
19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, further cause the one or more processors to perform steps comprising determining that the image fails to meet at least one quality criteria.
