Abstract
A folding safety gate includes a pass through door, and an L-frame, the pass through door linked to the L-frame, the L-frame comprising a vertical section and a horizontal section, the pass through door hinged to the vertical section by an upper hinge and a lower hinge, the horizontal section spanning a gap from a bottom of the vertical section to an opposite side on the pass through door and configured to unlatch and fold vertically.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A folding safety gate comprising:
a pass through door; and an L-frame, the pass through door linked to the L-frame, the L-frame comprising a vertical section and a horizontal section, the pass through door hinged to the vertical section by an upper hinge and a lower hinge, the horizontal section spanning a gap from a bottom of the vertical section to an opposite side on the pass through door and configured to unlatch and fold vertically.
2 . The folding safety gate of claim 1 wherein the horizontal section comprises a first section and a second section joined by a latching device.
3 . The folding safety gate of claim 2 wherein the second section includes a first pin and a second pin.
4 . The folding safety gate of claim 3 wherein the latching device includes a closed aperture and an open-ended aperture.
5 . The folding safety gate of claim 4 wherein the closed aperture and an open-ended aperture are configured to receive the first pin and a second pin, respectively.
6 . The folding safety gate of claim 5 wherein the first pin rotates in the closed aperture when in a locked position.
7 . The folding safety gate of claim 1 wherein the horizontal section comprises:
a first section having a tapered proximal end; and
a second section having an aperture, the tapered proximal end of the first section configured to fit into the aperture.
8 . The folding safety gate of claim 7 wherein the first section includes a first section fastening opening and the second section includes a second section fastening opening.
9 . The folding safety gate of claim 8 further comprising a pin configured to fit into the first section and the second section when the first section fastening opening and the second section fastening opening are aligned.
10 . The folding safety gate of claim 1 wherein the horizontal section comprises:
a first section having end protrusion; and
a second section having an aperture, the end protrusion of the first section configured to be threaded into the aperture of the section.
11 . The folding safety gate of claim 1 wherein the horizontal section comprises:
a proximal end of the first section that includes an aperture having a first section stop positioned within;
a proximal end of the second section that includes an aperture having a second section stop positioned within; and
a joining section that includes opposing barbs configured to lock within corresponding slots of the first section aperture and the second section aperture and against the first section stop and the second section stop.
12 . The folding safety gate of claim 1 wherein the horizontal section comprises:
a proximal end of the first section that includes an aperture having a first section stop positioned within;
a proximal end of the second section that includes an aperture having a second section stop positioned within; and
a joining section that includes a bungee cord passing through a hollow tube, the hollow tube configured together the first section and the second section such when opposite ends of the joining section are placed into the aperture of the first section and the aperture of the second section.
13 . The folding safety gate of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of adjustable points of contact points configured to press against a vertical surface.
14 . The folding safety gate of claim 13 wherein the plurality of adjustable points of contact points are adjustable pressure pads.
15 . The folding safety gate of claim 14 further comprising a lever configured to control one of the plurality of adjustable pressure pads.
16 . The folding safety gate of claim 15 wherein pressing the lever downward causes the one of the plurality of adjustable pressure pads to move out from the pass through door and press against a door frame, and lifting the lever upwardly causes the one of the plurality of adjustable pressure pads to move out into the pass through door and away from the door frame.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
