Abstract

Fraud detection within a special purpose hardware platform to detect payment interception of a first authentication file and initiate payment mitigation. A payee associated with a payee terminal device is verified as the intended recipient of the first authentication file, and the first authentication file is determined to have been intercepted in its intended delivery to the payee terminal device. A second authentication file is generated and delivered to the payee terminal device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A computer implemented method for detecting payment interception of a first authentication file and initiating payment mitigation, said method being performed on a computing device and executed by a processor, said method comprising:
verifying a payee associated with a payee terminal device is the intended recipient of the first authentication file; initiating a series of validation and assessment protocols of a payor terminal device and the payee terminal device; determining the first authentication file has been intercepted in its intended delivery to the payee terminal device; and generating and delivering a second authentication file to the payee terminal device upon determining the first authentication file was intercepted, initiating an identity restoration (IDR) recovery process for the payee associated with the payee terminal device.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the authentication file is associated with a negotiable instrument, which is a contract that obligates a payor located at the payor terminal device to deliver a specified currency amount to the payee located at the payee terminal device.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the authentication file includes a culmination of data blocks called a blockchain, the data blocks are linked using cryptography.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein verifying the payee associated with the payee terminal device includes accessing identification data of the payee terminal device from a data source to determine an electronic payment address of the payee associated with the payee terminal device.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein verifying the payee associated with the payee terminal device includes comparing a stored electronic payment address of the payee stored in the data source to a present address of the payee terminal device.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprises verifying the payee associated with the payee terminal device includes based on authentication file information provided by a payor terminal device.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprises verifying the payee associated with the payee terminal device includes based in part on the authentication file and metadata associated with the authentication file.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the validation and assessment protocols include receiving traverse data associated with a transfer of the authentication file, wherein the traverse data includes a destination and any intermediate destinations of the authentication file.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising assessing the payee terminal device to determine if the payee's personal information and/or the payee terminal device has been compromised by a data breach.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein determining if the payee's personal information and/or the payee terminal device has been compromised by the data breach includes receiving an analysis of public database dumps and associated leaked account information.

11 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising generating an indicator to send to the payee terminal device upon determining an electronic payment address of the payee terminal device has been compromised.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second authentication file is associated with a specified currency amount associated with the first authentication file.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second authentication file is delivered to the payee terminal device upon the payee assigning any claims against a banking/financial institution.

14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second authentication file is associated with a specified currency amount of the first authentication file and any bank/financial institution/retailer fees arising from the authentication file interception.

         15 . A system comprising:
a non-transitory data storage device; and one or more special purpose computer devices that detect payment interception of a first authentication file, initiate payment mitigation, and employ at least one processor to perform actions, including: verifying a payee associated with a payee terminal device is the intended recipient of the first authentication file; initiating a series of validation and assessment protocols of a payor terminal device and the payee terminal device; determining the first authentication file has been intercepted in its intended delivery to the payee terminal device; and generating and delivering a second authentication file to the payee terminal device upon determining the first authentication file was intercepted, initiating an identity restoration (IDR) recovery process for the payee associated with the payee terminal device.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the authentication file is associated with a negotiable instrument, which is a contract that obligates a payor located at the payor terminal device to deliver a specified currency amount to the payee located at the payee terminal device.

17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the authentication file includes a culmination of data blocks called a blockchain, the data blocks are linked using cryptography.

18 . The system of claim 15 , further comprising assessing the payee terminal device to determine if the payee's personal information and/or the payee terminal device has been compromised by a data breach.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein determining if the payee's personal information and/or the payee terminal device has been compromised by the data breach includes receiving an analysis of public database dumps and associated leaked account information.

20 . The system of claim 18 , further comprising generating an indicator to send to the payee terminal device upon determining an electronic payment address of the payee terminal device has been compromised.
