System and apparatus for axial field rotary energy device
Abstract
An axial field rotary energy device can include a housing having an axis with an axial direction. A stator assembly can include a plurality of stator panels that are discrete panels from each other. The stators panels can be mechanically and stationarily coupled to the housing. Each stator panel can include a printed circuit board (PCB) having coils that are electrically conductive, each stator panel consists of a single electrical phase. In addition, rotors can be rotatably mounted within the housing on opposite axial ends of the stator assembly. The rotors can be mechanically coupled together with a rotor spacer. Each rotor can include magnets. In addition, in one version, no rotor is disposed between axially adjacent ones of the stator panels.

21 . An axial field rotary energy device, comprising:
a housing having an axis with an axial direction; rotors rotatably and coaxially mounted within the housing, and each rotor comprises magnets; and a stator assembly comprising a printed circuit board (PCB) coaxially mounted between the rotors, the PCB has a plurality of coils that are electrically conductive and interconnected within the PCB, each coil comprises a conductor material, an inner diameter portion, an outer diameter portion and radial portions extending between the inner and outer diameter portions, and at least some of the coils have a higher density of conductor material adjacent the inner and outer diameter portions compared to the radial portions.
22 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the radial portions of the at least some of the coils are further spread apart than the inner and outer diameter portions thereof.
23 . The device of claim 21 , wherein the conductor material comprises copper.
24 . An axial field rotary energy device comprising:
a rotor comprising an axis of rotation and magnets; a stator coaxial with the rotor, the stator comprising a printed circuit board (PCB) having a plurality of PCB layers that are spaced apart in an axial direction, each PCB layer comprises a respective plurality of co-planar coils, each coil having a plurality of turns, and each turn comprises: radial portions; an inner diameter portion; an outer diameter portion; and the inner and outer diameter portions comprise a higher density of conductive material than the radial portions.
25 . The device of claim 24 , wherein the inner diameter and outer diameter portions are formed with conductors that are wider than conductors of the radial portions.
