Apparatus and method

Abstract

An example of an apparatus includes a ring-shaped portion, a detector and a main portion. At least a part of the ring-shaped portion is elastically deformable. The detector detects deformation of the ring-shaped portion. The main portion is secured to the ring-shaped portion. The main portion includes an attachment portion, a terminal and a transmitter. A game controller can be attached to the attachment portion. The terminal is for electrical connection with the game controller. The transmitter transmits data regarding a detection result of the detector to the game controller through the terminal.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An extension apparatus to which a controller is attached, the controller including an analog stick at a position on a front surface of the controller, and at least one button below the analog stick on the front surface, the extension apparatus comprising:
 a pocket having an opening on an upper side of the pocket, wherein the pocket is dimensioned and configured so that, in a case where the controller is accommodated in the pocket from a lower side of the controller, the button is accommodated inside the pocket, and the analog stick is exposed above the pocket; and   a band in a left-right-direction of the pocket, the band being configured to be fastened to a user.   
     
     
         2 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the pocket is shaped so that a lower left corner of the pocket is more rounded than a lower right corner of the pocket so as to accommodate a lower left corner on the front surface of the controller that is more rounded than a lower right corner on the front surface of the controller.   
     
     
         3 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein
 a through hole is at a position where the pocket is between the band and the through hole, and   the band is configured to be passed through the through hole.   
     
     
         4 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 3 , further comprising:
 a first surface fastener on a surface of the band; and   a second surface fastener on the surface, the second surface fastener being removably attachable to the first surface fastener, wherein   the pocket and the surface of the band faces the same side.   
     
     
         5 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 4 , wherein
 a distance between the pocket and the second surface fastener is shorter than a distance between the pocket and the first surface fastener.   
     
     
         6 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 5 , wherein
 an area of the second surface fastener is wider than an area of the first surface fastener.   
     
     
         7 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 6 , wherein
 the first surface fastener is near a further end portion from the pocket between end portions of the band.   
     
     
         8 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 1 , further comprising an accommodating portion, wherein
 the pocket is on the accommodating portion,   in the accommodating portion, a through hole is at a position where the pocket is between the band and the through hole, and   the band is configured to be passed through the through hole.   
     
     
         9 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 8 , wherein
 the pocket is on the front side of the accommodating portion, and   the extension apparatus further comprises:   a first surface fastener on a front side of the band; and   a second surface fastener on the front side of the band, the second surface fastener being removably attachable to the first surface fastener.   
     
     
         10 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 8 , wherein the accommodating portion has a first height that is above a second height at which the opening is formed so that the analog stick is positioned at a third height that is between the first and second heights. 
     
     
         11 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 8 , wherein a height of the accommodating portion is above a height at which the band is attached to the accommodating portion. 
     
     
         12 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein
 the pocket is dimensioned and shaped to accommodate and cover the at least one button when the at least one button comprises four buttons.   
     
     
         13 . The extension apparatus according to  claim 1 , wherein the pocket is sized and shaped to accommodate only a portion of the controller when the controller is inserted to the maximum extent into the pocket, such that an upper portion of the controller protrudes outside the pocket. 
     
     
         14 . A system comprising a first controller and a second controller used to operate an information processing apparatus, and an extension apparatus, wherein
 the first controller includes:
 an analog stick on a front surface of the first controller; and 
 at least one button below the analog stick on the front surface, 
   the first controller is shaped so that a lower left corner on the front surface of the first controller is more rounded than a lower right corner on the front surface of the first controller,   the second controller includes:
 an analog stick on a front surface of the second controller; and 
 at least one button above the analog stick on the front surface, 
   the second controller is shaped so that a lower right corner on the front surface of the second controller is more rounded than a lower left corner on the front surface of the second controller, and   the extension apparatus includes:
 a pocket having an opening on an upper side of the pocket, wherein the pocket is shaped so that a lower left corner of the pocket is more rounded than a lower right corner of the pocket, and in a case where the controller is accommodated in the pocket from a lower side of the first controller, the button is accommodated inside the pocket, and the analog stick is exposed above the pocket; and 
 a band in a left-right-direction of the pocket, the band being configured to be fastened to a user. 
   
     
     
         15 . The system according to  claim 14 , wherein
 the at least one button included in the first controller is four buttons.   
     
     
         16 . The system according to  claim 14 , further comprising an accommodating portion, wherein the pocket is on the accommodating portion. 
     
     
         17 . The system according to  claim 16 , wherein the accommodating portion has a first height that is above a second height at which the opening is formed so that the analog stick is positioned at a third height that is between the first and second heights. 
     
     
         18 . The system according to  claim 16 , wherein a height of the accommodating portion is above a height at which the band is attached to the accommodating portion. 
     
     
         19 . The system according to  claim 15 , wherein the pocket is sized and shaped to accommodate only a portion of the controller when the controller is inserted to the maximum extent into the pocket, such that an upper portion of the controller protrudes outside the pocket.
