Abstract

The apparatuses described herein relate to preparation of a meat product. Apparatuses, systems comprising the apparatuses, and methods of making and use the systems and apparatuses are described herein. These are useful for controlling one or more of growth on and separation of a meat product from an enclosed substrate. The apparatuses and systems are configured to receive fluid and grow the meat product and/or separate the meat product from the substrate in a scalable manner.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An apparatus for growing a meat product, comprising:
an enclosure having a cavity; and a three-dimensional lattice comprising two or more adjacent substrates, wherein the three-dimensional lattice is arranged within the cavity and configured to support growth of the meat product.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the three-dimensional lattice is porous.

3 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the apparatus enables perfusion of fluid between the two or more adjacent substrates.

4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the two or more adjacent substrates are parallel.

5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the two or more adjacent substrates comprise a plurality of turns about a longitudinal axis.

6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the two or more adjacent substrates are tubular and comprise a first tube within at least a second tube.

7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the two or more adjacent substrates are angled relative to a longitudinal axis of the apparatus.

8 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the two or more adjacent substrates comprise grooves.

9 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the two or more adjacent substrates comprise two or more congruent cones.

10 . The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising one or more fluid nozzles for introducing fluid to the cavity.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , further comprising a fluid separator.

12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the fluid separator is configured to distribute fluid across the two or more adjacent substrates in accordance with a fluid flow pattern.

13 . The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the fluid flow pattern comprises a fan-like fluid flow pattern.

14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the fluid separator is positioned perpendicular to the two or more adjacent substrates.

15 . A method for growing a meat product, comprising:
positioning a three-dimensional lattice comprising two or more adjacent substrates within a cavity of an enclosure, wherein the three-dimensional lattice is arranged within the cavity and configured to support growth of the meat product; seeding the two or more adjacent substrates with cells to grow the meat product; introducing cell culture media to the two or more adjacent substrates; removing the cell culture media from the cavity; and separating the meat product from the two or more adjacent substrates.

16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising rotating the enclosure after seeding the two or more adjacent substrates with cells to grow the meat product.

17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein separating the meat product from the two or more adjacent substrates comprises separating the meat product from the two or more adjacent substrates utilizing a second fluid.

18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the second fluid comprises a liquid.

19 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising utilizing a plurality of fluid nozzles to direct the second fluid at the two or more adjacent substrates.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the plurality of fluid nozzles are configured to rotate about a predetermined axis.
