Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for selectively restricting a mobile device. In one implementation, a visual capture can be to identify one or more indicators within the visual capture. Based on the indicators, an implementation of a restriction at the mobile device can be adjusted. In another implementation inputs can be processed to compute a determination, determination reflecting at least one of the in-vehicle role of the user as a driver and the in-vehicle role of the user as a passenger; and, an operation state of the mobile device can be modified based on such a determination. According to another implementation, one or more outputs can be projected from a mobile device, inputs can be received, and such inputs and outputs can be processed to determine a correlation between them. A restriction can then be modified based on the correlation.

         136 . The method of claim 128 , wherein the visual capture is captured while the mobile device is oriented within a range of orientations with respect to a vehicle.

         137 . The method of claim 128 , wherein the visual capture is captured while the mobile device is positioned within a range of distances from a face of the user.

         138 . The method of claim 128 , wherein the mobile device is present within a moving vehicle.

         139 . The method of claim 128 , wherein receiving the visual capture comprises employing, at the mobile device, a restriction that configures the mobile device to receive the visual capture when the mobile device is:
 (i) oriented within a defined range of orientations with respect to the ground; and (ii) positioned within a defined range of distance from the face of the user.

         140 . The method of claim 128 , wherein receiving the visual capture comprises employing, at the mobile device, a restriction that configures the mobile device to receive the visual capture when the mobile device is:
 (i) oriented within a defined range of orientations with respect to a vehicle; and (ii) positioned within a defined range of distance from the face of the user.

         141 . The method of claim 128 , wherein receiving the visual capture comprises employing, at the mobile device, a restriction that configures the mobile device to receive the visual capture when the mobile device is:
 (i) oriented within a defined range of orientations with respect a face of the user; and (ii) positioned within a defined range of distance from the face of the user.

         142 . A system comprising:
 a processing device; and a memory coupled to the processing device and storing instructions that, when executed by the processing device, cause the system to perform operations comprising:
 employing a restriction at a mobile device, the restriction comprising configuring the mobile device to receive one or more first inputs only when the mobile device is oriented at a defined orientation;
 determining that the mobile device is oriented at the defined orientation;
