Computer-Implemented Method for Recommendation System Input Management

Abstract

A method for execution by a computing device of a recommendation system includes receiving, from a user computing device associated with a user, a selection of one or more images from one or more selectable image groups to produce a subset of images, where each image of the subset of images has an individual image vector. The method further includes combining the individual image vector of each image of the subset of images to produce a preliminary input vector. The method further includes correlating the preliminary input vector with a first set of items of one or more databases of items based on the preliminary input vector and a corresponding item vector for each of the first set of items. The method further includes generating a representation of the first set of items for displaying on a display of the user computing device.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for execution by a computing device of a recommendation system comprising:
 receiving, from a user computing device of the recommendation system, a selection of one or more images from one or more selectable image groups to produce a subset of images, wherein the user computing device is associated with a user, and wherein each image of the subset of images has an individual image vector;   combining the individual image vector of each image of the subset of images to produce a preliminary input vector;   correlating the preliminary input vector with a first set of items of one or more databases of items based on the preliminary input vector and a corresponding item vector for each of the first set of items; and   generating, by the computing device, a representation of the first set of items for displaying on a display of the user computing device.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 generating a personal preference profile for a user profile associated with the user based upon the preliminary input vector. 
 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 receiving, from the user computing device of the recommendation system, a second selection of one or more images from the one or more selectable image groups to produce a second subset of images, wherein each second image of the second subset of images has a second individual image vector; 
 combining the second individual image vector of each second image to produce a second preliminary input vector; and 
 correlating, by the computing device, a second set of items of one or more databases of items based on the second preliminary input vector and a corresponding item vector for each of the second set of items. 
 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3  further comprises:
 generating a personal preference profile for a user profile associated with the user based upon the preliminary input vector; and 
 generating a second personal preference profile for the user profile based upon the second preliminary input vector. 
 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 3  further comprises:
 generating, by the computing device, a representation of the second set of items for displaying on the display of the user computing device. 
 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 3  further comprises:
 receiving, from a second user computing device of the recommendation system, the second selection of one or more images from the one or more selectable image groups to produce the second subset of images, wherein each second image of the second subset of images has the second individual image vector; 
 combining the second individual image vector of each second image to produce the second preliminary input vector; and 
 correlating the second set of items of one or more databases of items based on the second preliminary input vector and the corresponding item vector for each of the second set of items. 
 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the receiving the second selection includes:
 replacing a first image of the subset of images with a second image to produce the second subset of images, wherein prior to the second selection, the second image is not included in the subset of images.   
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the one or more selectable image groups includes item images associated with the first set of items, and wherein the second image is selected from the item images. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 7  further comprises:
 generating a personal preference profile for a user profile associated with the user based upon the preliminary input vector; and 
 updating the personal preference profile by overwriting the preliminary input vector with the second preliminary input vector. 
 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the one or more selectable image groups includes second images stored in a designated image holding area of the recommendation system. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 3  further comprises:
 receiving, from a second user computing device of the recommendation system, the second selection of one or more images from the one or more selectable image groups to produce the second subset of images, wherein the second user computing device is associated with a second user, and wherein each second image of the second subset of images has the second individual image vector; 
 combining the second individual image vector of each second image to produce the second preliminary input vector; and 
 correlating the second set of items of one or more databases of items based on the second preliminary input vector and the corresponding item vector for each of the second set of items. 
 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11  further comprises:
 generating a personal preference profile for a user profile associated with the second user based upon the second preliminary input vector. 
 
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 generating a populated image matrix based on the selection of the one or more images. 
 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 detecting an interaction, by the user computing device, with the representation of a particular item of the first set of items; 
 identifying one or more other items associated with the particular item based on attributes of the particular item; and 
 generating a representation of the one or more other items for displaying on the display. 
 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 sending the representation of the first set of items to the user computing device for the displaying on a display of the user computing device. 
 
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 prior to the receiving the selection: 
 receiving a request from the user computing device to begin a visual selection game module; and 
 generating the one or more selectable image groups for the visual selection game module for display on the display of the user computing device. 
 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 receiving, from the user computing device a filter selection to filter the first set of items based on filter criteria; 
 filtering the first set of items to produce a set of filtered items; and 
 generating a representation of the set of filtered items for displaying on the display. 
 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 1  further comprises:
 updating the preliminary input vector based on user activity associated with the user within the recommendation system; 
 automatically updating the first set of items to include one or more seconds items to produce a second set of items; and 
 generating a representation for the second set of items for displaying on a display of the user computing device. 
 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the user activity comprises:
 commenting on other items in the recommendation system.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the user activity comprises:
 searching for other items in the recommendation system.
