Abstract
A computer-based surgery support system and method for obtaining information of surgical procedures from networked equipment in an operating room, storing the retrieved information in a database, receiving a request for the stored information from a user terminal, and providing the stored information in accordance with the received request. The networked equipment may be configured for use in cataract surgical procedures, such as a phacoemulsification system.
Claims

a transceiver; and a processor operatively coupled to the transceiver; the transceiver and the processor are configured to receive a user input; the transceiver and the processor are further configured to send a request for surgical data to a phacoemulsification system based on the user input; the transceiver and the processor are further configured to receive the surgical data sent by the phacoemulsification system based on the request, the phacoemulsification system configured to determine the surgical data from information recorded during at least one surgical procedure; the transceiver and the processor are further configured to format user selected information from the received surgical data for display; the transceiver and the processor are further configured to display the user selected information based on at least one of predefined templates and user selected customization settings.
50 . The user terminal of claim 49 , wherein the at least one surgical procedure is an eye surgery.
51 . The user terminal of claim 50 , wherein the eye surgery is one of cataract surgery, refractive surgery, laser cataract surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, and glaucoma surgery.
52 . The user terminal of claim 49 , wherein the surgical data from the at least one surgical procedure includes at least one of operating room efficiency, energy usage, energy usage over time, vacuum rate, vacuum rate over time, procedure time, time between procedures, procedures per selected time period, number of surgeries per period of selected time, settings of at least one surgical device, operating room turnover rate, system errors, user errors, and supplies used.
53 . The user terminal of claim 49 , wherein the phacoemulsification system records and stores the surgical data from at least one surgical device configured for use during the at least one surgical procedure.
54 . The user terminal of claim 49 , wherein the transceiver and the processor formats and displays the user selected information according to a type identifier of the user terminal.
55 . The user terminal of claim 54 , wherein the type identifier indicates whether the user terminal is a smart phone, a tablet computer, a portable computer, or a desktop computer.
56 . The user terminal of claim 49 , wherein the transceiver and the processor perform an analysis of the surgical data, the analysis pertaining to at least one of the at least one surgical procedure, at least one surgeon, efficiency, product usage, and phacoemulsification system program settings.
57 . The user terminal of claim 49 , wherein the user terminal is at least one of a smart phone, a tablet computer, a portable computer, and a desktop computer.
58 . The user terminal of claim 49 , wherein the user selected information is formatted for display in at least one of a bar chart and a pie chart.
59 . A computer-based surgery support method, comprising:
receiving a user input; sending a request for surgical data to a phacoemulsification system based on the user input; receiving the surgical data sent by the phacoemulsification system based on the request, the phacoemulsification system configured to determine the surgical data from information recorded during at least one surgical procedure; formatting user selected information from the received surgical data for display; and displaying the user selected information based on at least one of predefined templates and user selected customization settings on a user terminal.
60 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the at least one surgical procedure is an eye surgery.
61 . The method of claim 60 , wherein the eye surgery is one of cataract surgery, refractive surgery, laser cataract surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, and glaucoma surgery.
62 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the surgical data from the at least one surgical procedure includes at least one of operating room efficiency, energy usage, energy usage over time, vacuum rate, vacuum rate over time, procedure time, time between procedures, procedures per selected time period, number of surgeries per period of selected time, settings of at least one surgical device, operating room turnover rate, system errors, user errors, and supplies used.
63 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the phacoemulsification system records and stores the surgical data from at least one surgical device configured for use during the at least one surgical procedure.
64 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the user selected information is formatted for display based on a type identifier of the user terminal.
65 . The method of claim 64 , wherein the type identifier indicates whether the user terminal is a smart phone, a tablet computer, a portable computer, or a desktop computer.
66 . The method of claim 59 , furthering comprising performing an analysis of the surgical data, the analysis pertaining to at least one of the at least one surgical procedure, at least one surgeon, efficiency, product usage, and phacoemulsification system program settings.
67 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the user terminal is at least one of a smart phone, a tablet computer, a portable computer, and a desktop computer.
68 . The method of claim 59 , wherein the user selected information is formatted for display in at least one of a bar chart and a pie chart.
69 . A computer-based surgery support system comprising:
a computer-based phacoemulsification system configured to record and store surgical data from at least one surgical procedure; and a user terminal remote from the computer-based phacoemulsification system including a transceiver and a processor operatively coupled to the transceiver; wherein the transceiver and the processor are configured to: receive a user input; send a request for the surgical data to the phacoemulsification system based on the user input; receive the surgical data sent by the phacoemulsification system based on the request; format user selected information from the received surgical data for display; and display the formatted user selected information based on at least one of predefined templates and user selected customization settings on the user terminal.
70 . The system of claim 69 , wherein the at least one surgical procedure is an eye surgery.
