Abstract
Ambulatory medical devices, which includes ambulatory medicament pumps, and blood glucose control systems that provide therapy to a subject, such as blood glucose control, are disclosed. Disclosed systems and devices can implement one or more features that improve the user experience, such as prompting and/or facilitating the user to order additional infusion sets, sensors, and/or other components to facilitate treatment.

1 . An ambulatory medicament pump configured to automatically generate a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface based on an estimate of remaining transmitters falling below a reordering threshold, the ambulatory medicament pump comprising:
an analyte sensor interface configured to facilitate communication with a transmitter operatively connected to an analyte sensor; a wireless data interface configured to facilitate communication with a remote electronic device; a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions; and an electronic processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject;
monitor a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
an electronic transmitter change request, received via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, to change a transmitter in communication with the ambulatory medicament pump;
a transmitter expiration alert, received from the remote electronic device via the wireless data interface, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold; and
a transmitter failure alert, received via a transmitter monitoring system of the ambulatory medicament pump, indicating that a transmitter in communication with the ambulatory medicament pump has a failure;
determine an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period;
determine that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below a reordering threshold;
in response to determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below the reordering threshold, automatically generate a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface;
receive, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order additional transmitters; and
in response to receiving the request to order additional transmitters, transmit a purchase order for additional transmitters.
2 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device sends an indication of the transmitter expiration alert based on a correlation of a ship date of one of the transmitters with an expiration date of the transmitter.
3 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device sends an indication of the transmitter expiration alert based on electronic expiration information associated with one or more of the transmitters.
4 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the transmitter expiration alert comprises electronic expiration information associated with one or more of the transmitters.
5 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the purchase order for additional transmitter is transmitted to the remote electronic device.
6 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device is at least one of a portable electronic device or a remote computing environment.
7 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device comprises payment account data associated with the subject, and wherein the remote electronic device is configured to automatically process payment for the purchase order using the payment account data associated with the subject.
8 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device is in communication with an insurance provider system associated with the subject, and wherein the remote electronic device is configured to automatically send the purchase order to the insurance provider system for processing.
9 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
determine the number of initial transmitters based on one or more transmitted purchase orders for additional transmitters.
10 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive, via user interaction with a transmitter reordering threshold interface, an indication of the reordering threshold.
11 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive an indication of the reordering threshold from the remote electronic device.
12 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
determine the reordering threshold based on the usage of transmitters during the period and the estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, wherein the reordering threshold is higher for a higher usage of transmitters during the period compared to the reordering threshold for a lower usage of transmitters during the period.
13 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
in response to determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below the reordering threshold, transmit the purchase order for additional transmitters.
14 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
determine that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below an automatic reordering threshold; and in response to determining that the estimate of transmitters falls below the automatic reordering threshold, transmit the purchase order for the additional transmitters.
15 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 14 , wherein the automatic reordering threshold is different than the reordering threshold.
16 . A method of transmitting a purchase order for additional transmitters from a glucose level control system, the method comprising:
by an electronic processor of a glucose level control system executing specific computer-executable instructions stored in a non-transitory memory in communication with the electronic processor: receiving an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject; monitoring a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
receiving, via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, an electronic transmitter change request, to change a transmitter in communication with an ambulatory medicament pump of the glucose level control system;
receiving, via a wireless data interface in communication with a remote electronic device, a transmitter expiration alert, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold; and
receiving, via a transmitter monitoring system of the ambulatory medicament pump, a transmitter failure alert indicating that a transmitter in communication with the ambulatory medicament pump has a failure;
determining an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period; determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below a reordering threshold; in response to determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below the reordering threshold, automatically generating a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface; receiving, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order additional transmitters; and in response to receiving the request to order additional transmitters, transmitting a purchase order for additional transmitters.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the remote electronic device sends an indication of the transmitter expiration alert based on a correlation of a ship date of one of the transmitters with an expiration date of the transmitter.
18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the remote electronic device sends an indication of the transmitter expiration alert based on electronic expiration information associated with one or more of the transmitters.
19 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising receiving one or more delivery indications from the remote electronic device that are indicative of initial transmitters delivered to the subject; and determining, based on the one or more delivery indications, the number of initial transmitters delivered to the subject.
20 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising receiving, via the wireless data interface, an indication from the remote electronic device of the reordering threshold, wherein the reordering threshold is determined by the remote electronic device algorithmically.
21 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising transmitting the purchase order for additional transmitters in response to determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below the reordering threshold.
22 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the transmitter expiration alert comprises electronic expiration information associated with one or more of the transmitters.
23 . A glucose level control system configured to automatically generate a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface based on an estimate of remaining transmitters falling below a reordering threshold, the glucose level control system comprising:
a wireless data interface configured to facilitate communication with a remote electronic device; a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions; and an electronic processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject;
monitor a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
an electronic transmitter change request, received via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, to change a transmitter connected to an analyte sensor;
a transmitter expiration alert, received from the remote electronic device via the wireless data interface, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold; and
a transmitter failure alert indicating that a transmitter has a failure;
determine an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period;
determine that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below a reordering threshold;
in response to determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below the reordering threshold, automatically generate a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface;
receive, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order additional transmitters; and
in response to receiving the request to order additional transmitters, transmit a purchase order for additional transmitters to the remote electronic device.
24 . The glucose level control system of claim 23 , wherein one of the transmitters is in communication with an ambulatory medicament pump of the glucose level control system.
25 . The glucose level control system of claim 23 , wherein the number of initial transmitters is input via a transmitter quantity interface.
26 . The glucose level control system of claim 23 , wherein the request to order additional analyte sensors comprises a duration period, and wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
determine a quantity of additional transmitters that corresponds to the duration period based on the usage of transmitters during the period.
27 . A method of transmitting a purchase order for additional transmitters from a glucose level control system, the method comprising:
by an electronic processor of a glucose level control system executing specific computer-executable instructions stored in a non-transitory memory in communication with the electronic processor:
receiving an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject;
monitoring a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
receiving, via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, an electronic transmitter change request, to change a transmitter in communication with the glucose level control system;
receiving, via a wireless data interface in communication with a remote electronic device, a transmitter expiration alert, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold; and
receiving a transmitter failure alert indicating that a transmitter has a failure;
determining an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period;
determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below a reordering threshold;
in response to determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below the reordering threshold, automatically generating a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface;
receiving, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order additional transmitters; and
in response to receiving the request to order additional transmitters, transmitting a purchase order for additional transmitters.
28 . The method of claim 27 , wherein one of the transmitters is in communication with an ambulatory medicament pump of the glucose level control system.
29 . The method of claim 27 , further comprising transmitting the purchase order for additional transmitters in response to determining that the estimate of remaining transmitters falls below the reordering threshold.
30 . The method of claim 27 , further comprising determining a quantity of additional transmitters that corresponds to a duration period based on the usage of transmitters during the period; and indicating the quantity of additional transmitters that corresponds to the duration period via the transmitter ordering interface.Cited by (0)
