Abstract
Ambulatory medical devices, which includes ambulatory medicament pumps, and blood glucose control systems that provide therapy to a subject, such as blood glucose control, are disclosed. Disclosed systems and devices can implement one or more features that improve the user experience, such as prompting and/or facilitating the user to order additional infusion sets, sensors, and/or other components to facilitate treatment.

1 . An ambulatory medicament pump configured to monitor a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, the ambulatory medicament pump comprising:
an analyte sensor interface configured to facilitate communication with a transmitter operatively connected to an analyte sensor; a wireless data interface configured to facilitate communication with a remote electronic device; a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions; and an electronic processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject;
monitor a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
an electronic transmitter change request, received via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, to change a transmitter in communication with the ambulatory medicament pump;
a transmitter expiration alert, received from the remote electronic device via the wireless data interface, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold; and
a transmitter failure alert, received via a transmitter monitoring system of the ambulatory medicament pump, indicating that a transmitter in communication with the ambulatory medicament pump has a failure; and
transmit transmitter data regarding the usage of transmitters, via the wireless data interface, to the remote electronic device.
2 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device is a remote computing environment.
3 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold.
4 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 3 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
in response to receiving the reordering message from the remote electronic device, automatically generate a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface; receive, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order additional transmitters; and in response to receiving the request to order additional transmitters, transmit a purchase order for additional transmitters.
5 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold and recommending that a quantity of additional transmitters be ordered.
6 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 5 , wherein the recommended quantity of additional transmitters is based at least in part on the usage of transmitters over the period of time.
7 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold and additional transmitters have been ordered.
8 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 7 , wherein the remote electronic device comprises payment account data associated with the subject, and wherein the remote electronic device is configured to automatically process payment for the ordered additional transmitters using the payment account data associated with the subject.
9 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device sends an indication of the transmitter expiration alert based on a correlation of a ship date of one of the transmitters with an expiration date of the transmitter.
10 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the remote electronic device sends an indication of the transmitter expiration alert based on electronic expiration information associated with one or more of the transmitters.
11 . The ambulatory medicament pump of claim 1 , wherein the transmitter expiration alert comprises electronic expiration information associated with one or more of the transmitters.
12 . A method of monitoring a usage of transmitters for an ambulatory medicament pump of a glucose level control system, the method comprising:
by an electronic processor of a glucose level control system executing specific computer-executable instructions stored in a non-transitory memory in communication with the electronic processor:
receiving an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject;
monitoring a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
receiving, via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, an electronic transmitter change request, to change a transmitter in communication with an ambulatory medicament pump;
receiving, via a wireless data interface in communication with a remote electronic device, a transmitter expiration alert, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold;
receiving, via a transmitter monitoring system of the ambulatory medicament pump, a transmitter failure alert indicating that a transmitter in communication with the ambulatory medicament pump has a failure; and
transmitting transmitter data regarding the usage of transmitters, via the wireless data interface, to the remote electronic device.
13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising receiving, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold.
14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising:
automatically generating a user prompt comprising transmitter ordering interface in response to receiving the reordering message from the remote electronic device; receiving, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order additional transmitters; and transmitting a purchase order for additional transmitters in response to receiving the request to order additional transmitters.
15 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising receiving, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold and recommending that a quantity of additional transmitters be ordered.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the recommended quantity of additional transmitters is preset.

The method of claim 12 , further comprising receiving, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold and additional transmitters have been ordered.
18 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the remote electronic device comprises payment account data associated with the subject that is configured to be used to automatically process payment for a purchase order of additional transmitters.
19 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the remote electronic device is in communication with an insurance provider system associated with the subject, and wherein the remote electronic device is configured to automatically send a purchase order for additional transmitters to the insurance provider system for processing.
20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein the remote electronic device comprises payment account data associated with the subject, and wherein the remote electronic device is configured to automatically process payment for the purchase order for additional transmitters using the payment account data associated with the subject and data provided by the insurance provider system.
21 . A glucose level control system configured to monitor a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, the glucose level control system comprising:
a wireless data interface configured to facilitate communication with a remote electronic device; a non-transitory memory configured to store specific computer-executable instructions; and an electronic processor in communication with the non-transitory memory and configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject;
monitor a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
an electronic transmitter change request, received via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, to change a transmitter connected to an analyte sensor;
a transmitter expiration alert, received from the remote electronic device via the wireless data interface, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold; and
a transmitter failure alert indicating that a transmitter has a failure; and
transmit transmitter data regarding the usage of transmitters, via the wireless data interface, to the remote electronic device.
22 . The glucose level control system of claim 21 , wherein one of the transmitters is in communication with an ambulatory medicament pump of the glucose level control system.
23 . The glucose level control system of claim 21 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
receive, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold and recommending that a quantity of additional transmitters be ordered.
24 . The glucose level control system of claim 23 , wherein the electronic processor is further configured to execute the specific computer-executable instructions to at least:
in response to receiving the reordering message from the remote electronic device, automatically generate a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface that provides at least the recommended quantity of additional transmitters to be ordered; receive, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order the recommended quantity of additional transmitters; and in response to receiving the request to order the recommended quantity of additional transmitters, transmit a purchase order for the recommended quantity of additional transmitters.
25 . The glucose level control system of claim 23 , wherein the recommended quantity of additional transmitters is set by an individual involved in administering therapy to the subject.
26 . The glucose level control system of claim 24 , wherein the remote electronic device is in communication with an insurance provider system associated with the subject, and wherein the remote electronic device is configured to automatically send the recommended quantity of additional transmitters to the insurance provider system for processing.
27 . A method of monitoring a usage of transmitters for a glucose level control system, the method comprising:
by an electronic processor of a glucose level control system executing specific computer-executable instructions stored in a non-transitory memory in communication with the electronic processor:
receiving an indication of a number of initial transmitters in possession of a subject;
monitoring a usage of transmitters over a period by receiving at least one of a plurality of transmitter change indications during the period, wherein the plurality of transmitter change indications comprises:
receiving, via user interaction with a transmitter change interface, an electronic transmitter change request, to change a transmitter in communication with the glucose level control system;
receiving, via a wireless data interface in communication with a remote electronic device, a transmitter expiration alert, indicating that a transmitter has expired or has passed or is at an expiration threshold; and
receiving a transmitter failure alert indicating that a transmitter has a failure; and
transmitting transmitter data regarding the usage of transmitters, via the wireless data interface, to the remote electronic device.
28 . The method of claim 27 , wherein one of the transmitters is in communication with an ambulatory medicament pump of the glucose level control system.

The method of claim 27 , further comprising receiving, via the wireless data interface, a reordering message from the remote electronic device that indicates that an estimate of remaining transmitters in possession of the subject at the end of the period, based on the number of initial transmitters and the usage of transmitters during the period, has fallen below a reordering threshold and recommending that a quantity of additional transmitters be ordered.
30 . The method of claim 29 , further comprising:
automatically generating a user prompt comprising a transmitter ordering interface that provides at least the recommended quantity of additional transmitters to be ordered in response to receiving the reordering message from the remote electronic device; receiving, via user interaction with the transmitter ordering interface, a request to order the recommended quantity of additional transmitters; and transmitting a purchase order for the recommended quantity of additional transmitters in response to receiving the request to order the recommended quantity of additional transmitters.Cited by (0)
