Abstract

A decoy system includes a ground stake, a decoy body, and a ground stake topper. The ground stake includes a first end and a second end configured to support the decoy system. The decoy body includes an outer surface, an inner surface, a bottom opening through which the ground stake extends, and a top opening. The ground stake topper is configured to extend into the top opening of the decoy body with the ground stake topper having a base connected to the ground stake, a head, and a neck between the base and the head. The neck is smaller in area than the top opening. The neck of the ground stake topper is configured to be held within the top opening of the decoy body to allow the decoy body to moderately tilt and rotate relative to the ground stake topper.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A decoy system comprising:
 a decoy body having a decoy head, a top opening, and a bottom opening, wherein the decoy body is shaped to look like a body of a type of bird; a ground stake having a top end and a bottom end with a pole extending between the top end and the bottom end, wherein the ground stake is configured to extend through the bottom opening and into the decoy body; and a ground stake topper, wherein the ground stake topper includes:
 a topper head;
 a neck, wherein the neck has a size and shape configured to allow the decoy body to tilt in every direction and rotate horizontally in each direction relative to the ground stake topper; and
 a base, wherein the base is attachable to the ground stake;
   wherein the topper head is positioned on the decoy body above the top opening and wherein the ground stake topper is sized and shaped to allow for tilt and rotation of the decoy body relative the ground stake topper.

         2 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the top opening and the bottom opening are vertically aligned, and the bottom opening has a larger area than the top opening.

         3 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the tilt is equal to or less than 40 degrees and the rotation is equal to or less than 60 degrees.

         4 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the decoy head is detachable from the body such that a different decoy head may be attached to the decoy body to cause the decoy body to look like a different type of bird.

         5 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the bottom end of the ground stake is pointed.

         6 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the bottom end of the ground stake comprises a disc-like base.

         7 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the decoy body includes a decoy torso and the decoy torso includes a void extending from the bottom opening to the top opening.

         8 . The decoy system of claim 7 , wherein the top opening is situated such that the decoy torso balances on the ground stake and does not tilt forward, rearward, or to either side when at rest and when the ground stake extends upwardly in a vertical direction to hold the decoy body up.

         9 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the decoy body comprises an elastic material to allow for deformation of the decoy body.

         10 . The decoy system of claim 9 , wherein the decoy body is substantially hollow.

         11 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the bottom opening is sized to allow a specific amount of tilt of the decoy body, with tilt of the decoy body being stopped by edges of the bottom opening.

         12 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the top opening is horizontally rearward of the decoy head and vertically above the bottom opening and is configured to allow the ground stake topper to extend through the top opening to hold and support the decoy body.

         13 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein the neck has a core and two fins, wherein the two fins extend laterally away from the core, and wherein the fins and the core limit rotation of the decoy body.

         14 . The decoy system of claim 1 , wherein a length of the top opening is greater than a length of the neck, and a width of the top opening is greater than a width of the neck.

         15 . A decoy system comprising:
 a decoy body having a detachable decoy head, a top opening, and a bottom opening; a ground stake having a top end and a bottom end with a pole extending between the top end and the bottom end, wherein the ground stake is configured to extend through the bottom opening and into the decoy body; and
 a ground stake topper, wherein the ground stake topper includes:
 a topper head;
 a neck, wherein the neck has a core and two fins, the two fins extending laterally away from the core; and
 a base, wherein the base is attachable to the ground stake;
   wherein the topper head is positioned on the decoy body above the top opening and wherein the ground stake topper is sized and shaped to allow for tilt and rotation of the decoy body relative the ground stake topper.

         16 . The decoy system of claim 15 , wherein the core has a substantially circular cross-sectionals shape with a width of the middle portion being greater than a width of the fins.

         17 . The decoy system of claim 15 , wherein the decoy body is shaped to look like a body of a type of bird and wherein the detachable head may be replaced with a different detachable head such that the body looks like a different type of bird.

         18 . The decoy system of claim 15 , wherein the fins and the core limit rotation of the decoy body and wherein tilt of the decoy body is stopped by edges of the bottom opening.

         19 . A decoy system comprising:
 a decoy body having a decoy head, a top opening, and a bottom opening, the decoy body being shaped to look like a body of a type of bird; a ground stake having a top end and a bottom end with a pole extending between the top end and the bottom end, wherein the ground stake is configured to extend through the bottom opening and into the decoy body; and a ground stake topper, wherein the ground stake topper includes:
