Abstract

An apparatus has a syringe housing. A plunger has a shaft, wherein the plunger is slidably received within the syringe housing between a first and second position. A Hall sensor is disposed within the shaft and a magnet is fixed proximate the syringe housing.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 .- 26 . (canceled)

27 . A system for altering and measuring a medium delivered to a patient, the system comprising:
a processor; a catheter for insertion into the patient and delivery the medium to a patient; a syringe for ejecting the medium to the patient through the catheter, the syringe comprising a housing, a shaft, and a piston coupled to the shaft, wherein the shaft and the piston are slidably received within the housing along a housing axis from a first position to a second position during an ejection of the medium from the syringe, the shaft comprising at least one Hall sensor and the housing comprising at least one magnet, wherein the Hall sensor is configured to send a Hall sensor data signal to the processor from the syringe, wherein the processor is configured to determine a volume of the medium ejected from the syringe based at least in part on the received Hall sensor data signal; a medium flow diversion assembly disposed downstream of the syringe, wherein the medium flow diversion assembly is configured to be fluidically coupled between the catheter and the syringe, and wherein the medium flow diversion assembly is configured to divert a portion of the ejected medium away from the catheter during the ejection of medium from the syringe; and, a diversion reservoir fluidically coupled to the medium flow diversion assembly, wherein the diversion reservoir comprises a diversion reservoir sensor configured to send a diversion reservoir sensor data signal to the processor, wherein the processor is configured to determine a volume of the diverted portion of the ejected medium based at least in part on the received diversion reservoir sensor data signal, and wherein the processor is configured to determine a volume of the ejected medium delivered to the patient based at least in part on the received diversion reservoir sensor data signal and the received Hall sensor data signal.

28 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the medium flow diversion assembly comprises a valve.

29 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the syringe is manually operable.

30 . The system of claim 28 , wherein the valve regulates the portion of ejected medium diverted to the diversion reservoir.

31 . The system of claim 30 , wherein the valve reduces a proportional amount of ejected medium diverted to the diversion reservoir with an increasing pressure of the fluid medium being ejected by the syringe,

32 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the shaft and the piston are rotatably received within the housing along a housing axis from a first position to a second position during an ejection of the medium from the syringe.

32 . The system of claim 27 , further comprising a saline reservoir coupled to a portion of the system downstream of the flow diversion reservoir.

33 . The system of claim 32 , wherein the saline reservoir is fluidically coupled to a manifold.

34 . The system of claim 27 , further comprising a monitoring system, wherein the processor is disposed within the monitoring system.

35 . The system of claim 34 , wherein the monitoring system is disposed remote from the syringe.

36 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the received diversion reservoir sensor data signal and the received Hall sensor data signal are delivered to the processor wirelessly.

37 . The system of claim 27 , wherein the received diversion reservoir sensor data signal and the received Hall sensor data signal are delivered to the processor via a wired connection.
