Recording apparatus
Abstract
A recording apparatus includes a recording head, a main carriage movable along a first direction, a sub-carriage held by the main carriage, and a regulating portion which regulates a movement of a recording medium inserted into the recording apparatus in a second direction. The sub-carriage is moved along the first direction in association with a movement of the main carriage, and is movable to a first position and to a second position along the second direction relative to the main carriage. The shortest distance between the regulating portion and discharge ports of the recording head with respect to the second direction when the sub-carriage is in the second position is larger than that when the sub-carriage is in the first position. An operation of removing the recording head from the sub-carriage is performed in a state in which the sub-carriage is in the second position in the second direction.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A recording apparatus configured to perform recording on a recording medium, the recording apparatus comprising:
a recording head configured to discharge ink from a plurality of discharge ports to perform recording on the recording medium; a main carriage movable along a first direction; a sub-carriage held by the main carriage; and a regulating portion which regulates a movement of the recording medium along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction by the recording medium being brought into contact with the regulating portion in a case in which the recording medium is inserted into the recording apparatus, wherein the sub-carriage is moved along the first direction in association with a movement of the main carriage in a state in which the sub-carriage is held by the main carriage, and the sub-carriage is movable to a first position and to a second position different from the first position along the second direction relative to the main carriage, wherein the recording head is removably mounted to the sub-carriage, wherein the recording head performs recording on the recording medium while the main carriage is moved along the first direction in a state in which the sub-carriage is located at the first position and while the main carriage is moved along the first direction in a state in which the sub-carriage is located at the second position, wherein a shortest distance of distances between the regulating portion and the plurality of discharge ports with respect to the second direction when the sub-carriage is located at the second position is larger than a shortest distance of distances between the regulating portion and the plurality of discharge ports with respect to the second direction when the sub-carriage is located at the first position, and wherein an operation of removing the recording head from the sub-carriage is performed in the state in which the sub-carriage is located at the second position with respect to the second direction.
2 . The recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the operation of removing the recording head from the sub-carriage is performed in a state in which the plurality of discharge ports are located outside of a recording area, in which the recording is performed on the recording medium, with respect to the first direction.
3 . The recording apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein a position of the main carriage when the recording apparatus is in a powered-on state and the recording apparatus is in a standby state is assumed to be a waiting position, and
wherein the recording area is located, with respect to the first direction, between positions of the plurality of discharge ports when the main carriage is located at the waiting position and positions of the plurality of discharge ports when the operation of removing is performed.
4 . The recording apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein, when an instruction for the operation of removing the recording head is input to the recording apparatus, the sub-carriage is moved to the second position.
5 . The recording apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a door which is openable and closable; and an open/close sensor configured to detect an open state and a closed state of the door, wherein the operation of removing the recording head from the sub-carriage is performed when the door is in the open state, and, when the open/close sensor detects that a state of the door has changed from the open state to the closed state, the sub-carriage is moved from the second position to the first position.
6 . A recording apparatus configured to discharge ink from a plurality of discharge ports to perform recording on a recording medium, the recording apparatus comprising:
an ink cartridge configured to store the ink; a main carriage movable along a first direction; a sub-carriage held by the main carriage; and a regulating portion which regulates a movement of the recording medium along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction by the recording medium being brought into contact with the regulating portion in a case in which the recording medium is inserted into the recording apparatus, wherein the sub-carriage is moved along the first direction in association with a movement of the main carriage in a state in which the sub-carriage is held by the main carriage, and the sub-carriage is movable to a first position and to a second position different from the first position along the second direction relative to the main carriage, wherein the ink cartridge is removably mounted to the sub-carriage, wherein the plurality of discharge ports are moved together with the sub-carriage, wherein the recording apparatus performs recording on the recording medium while the main carriage is moved along the first direction in a state in which the sub-carriage is located at the first position and while the main carriage is moved along the first direction in a state in which the sub-carriage is located at the second position, wherein a shortest distance of distances between the regulating portion and the plurality of discharge ports with respect to the second direction when the sub-carriage is located at the second position is larger than a shortest distance of distances between the regulating portion and the plurality of discharge ports with respect to the second direction when the sub-carriage is located at the first position, and wherein an operation of removing the ink cartridge from the sub-carriage is performed in the state in which the sub-carriage is located at the second position with respect to the second direction.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
