Systems and methods for facilitating purchases at a gas station
Abstract
A computing system for remotely activating a transaction device including at least one memory having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to receive, from a mobile device, a transaction device identifier, receive, from the transaction device, an authorization request associated with a payment account for a transaction at the transaction device, receive location information from the mobile device and location information from the transaction device in response to receiving the authorization request, compare the location information to determine whether the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device, and upon determining that the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device, determine an authorization status of the authorization request, and transmit a signal to activate the transaction device to complete the transaction, wherein the signal is transmitted based on the transaction device identifier.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A computing system for remotely activating a transaction device, comprising:
at least one processor; and at least one memory having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
receive, from a mobile device, a transaction device identifier;
receive, from the transaction device, an authorization request associated with a payment account for a transaction at the transaction device;
receive location information from the mobile device and location information from the transaction device in response to receiving the authorization request;
compare the location information from the mobile device with the location information from the transaction device to determine whether the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device; and
upon determining that the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device:
determine an authorization status of the authorization request; and
transmit a signal to activate the transaction device to complete the transaction, wherein the signal is transmitted based on the transaction device identifier.
2 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
receive a mobile device identifier from the mobile device; associate the mobile device identifier with the payment account; and receive payment information from the payment account for the transaction.
3 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
transmit, to the transaction device, a deactivation instruction to deactivate the transaction device upon dispensing a product associated with the transaction; and provide a receipt of the transaction to the mobile device.
4 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
transmit, to an issuer of the payment account, the authorization request for the payment account; and receive, an authorization approval for the transaction from the issuer.
5 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
receive, from the mobile device, an indication of a transaction amount related to a purchase of a product associated with the transaction, wherein the authorization request comprises a purchase amount based at least part on the transaction amount.
6 . The computing system of claim 5 , wherein the transaction amount comprises one or more of a monetary amount or a quantity of the product to be dispensed.
7 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to receive a selection of a product to be dispensed.
8 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to send a notification to the mobile device that the transaction device is ready for use, and wherein the transaction device includes a fuel pump.
9 . The computing system of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to receive a selection of a fuel grade.
10 . A computer program product embodied on a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions, that when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
receive, from a mobile device, a transaction device identifier; receive, from the transaction device, an authorization request associated with a payment account for a transaction at the transaction device; receive location information from the mobile device and location information from the transaction device in response to receiving the authorization request; compare the location information from the mobile device with the location information from the transaction device to determine whether the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device; and upon determining that the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device:
determine an authorization status of the authorization request; and
transmit a signal to activate the transaction device to complete the transaction, wherein the signal is transmitted based on the transaction device identifier.
11 . The computing program product of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
receive a mobile device identifier from the mobile device; associate the mobile device identifier with the payment account; and receive payment information from the payment account for the transaction.
12 . The computing program product of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
transmit, to the transaction device, a deactivation instruction to deactivate the transaction device upon dispensing a product associated with the transaction; and provide a receipt of the transaction to the mobile device
13 . The computing program product of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
transmit, to an issuer of the payment account, the authorization request for the payment account; and receive an authorization approval for the transaction from the issuer.
14 . The computing program product of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:
receive, from the mobile device, an indication of a transaction amount related to a purchase of a product associated with the transaction, wherein the authorization request comprises a purchase amount based at least part on the transaction amount.
15 . The computing program product of claim 14 , wherein the transaction amount comprises one or more of a monetary amount or a quantity of the product to be dispensed.
16 . The computing program product of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to receive a selection of a product to be dispensed.
17 . The computing program product of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to send a notification to the mobile device that the transaction device is ready for use, and wherein the transaction device includes a fuel pump.
18 . The computing program product of claim 17 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to receive a selection of a fuel grade.
19 . A method comprising:
receiving, from a mobile device, a transaction device identifier; receiving, from the transaction device, an authorization request associated with a payment account for a transaction at the transaction device; receiving location information from the mobile device and location information from the transaction device in response to receiving the authorization request; comparing the location information from the mobile device with the location information from the transaction device to determine whether the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device; and upon determining that the mobile device is in proximity to the transaction device:
determining an authorization status of the authorization request; and
transmitting a signal to activate the transaction device to complete the transaction, wherein the signal is transmitted based on the transaction device identifier.
20 . The method of claim 19 , further comprising:
receiving a mobile device identifier from the mobile device; associating the mobile device identifier with the payment account; and receiving payment information from the payment account for the transaction.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
