Desk system with expandable benching

Abstract

A multipurpose desk system assembly and an associated method of assembling the desk system are disclosed. The desk system assembly may include a top panel assembly and a base support system configured with clamping devices for convenient assembly. The desk system assembly may comprise multiple top panel assemblies and can be configured to be readily converted or customized to fit the needs of an end user.

         23 . A kit, comprising:
 a first leg support comprising a first pair of legs;   a second leg support comprising a second pair of legs;   a furniture support comprising a first end and a second end;   a first leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the first end of the furniture support to the first leg support; and   a second leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the second end of the furniture support to the second leg support.   
     
     
         24 . The kit of  claim 23 , wherein the first leg clamp assembly defines an aperture configured to receive the first end of the furniture support, and wherein the first leg clamp assembly comprises:
 a camming member; and   a lever rotatable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lever is configured to cam the camming member into engagement with the first end of the furniture support in the aperture to releasably couple the first leg support to the furniture support, based on rotation of the lever toward the closed position.   
     
     
         25 . The kit of  claim 24 , wherein the second leg clamp assembly defines a second aperture configured to receive the second end of the furniture support, and wherein the second leg clamp assembly comprises:
 a second camming member; and   a second lever rotatable between a second open position and a second closed position, wherein the second lever is configured to cam the second camming member into engagement with the second end of the furniture support in the second aperture to releasably couple the second leg support to the furniture support, based on rotation of the second lever toward the second closed position.   
     
     
         26 . The kit of  claim 23 , wherein the kit further comprises:
 a second furniture support comprising a first end and a second end;   a third leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the first end of the second furniture support to the first leg support; and   a fourth leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the second end of the second furniture support to the second leg support.   
     
     
         27 . The kit of  claim 23 , further comprising a tabletop and a table clamp assembly, wherein the table clamp assembly defines an aperture configured to receive the furniture support therein, and wherein the table clamp assembly comprises:
 a camming member; and   a lever rotatable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lever is configured to cam the camming member into engagement with the furniture support in the aperture to releasably couple the tabletop to the furniture support, based on rotation of the lever toward the closed position.   
     
     
         28 . The kit of  claim 27 , wherein the kit further comprises a second table clamp assembly defining a second aperture configured to receive the furniture support therein, and wherein the second table clamp assembly comprises:
 a second camming member; and   a second lever rotatable between a second open position and a second closed position, wherein the second lever is configured to cam the second camming member into engagement with the furniture support in the second aperture to releasably couple the tabletop to the furniture support, based on rotation of the second lever toward the second closed position.   
     
     
         29 . The kit of  claim 28 , wherein the table clamp assembly and the second table clamp assembly are mounted to an underside of the tabletop. 
     
     
         30 . A kit, comprising:
 a leg support comprising a pair of legs;   a tabletop;   a furniture support comprising an end;   a leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the end of the furniture support to the leg support; and   a table clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the furniture support to the tabletop.   
     
     
         31 . The kit of  claim 30 , wherein the table clamp assembly is mounted to an underside of the tabletop. 
     
     
         32 . The kit of  claim 30 , wherein the leg clamp assembly defines an aperture configured to receive the end of the furniture support, and wherein the leg clamp assembly comprises:
 a camming member; and   a lever rotatable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lever is configured to cam the camming member into engagement with the end of the furniture support in the aperture to releasably couple the leg support to the furniture support, based on rotation of the lever toward the closed position.   
     
     
         33 . The kit of  claim 30 , wherein the table clamp assembly defines an aperture configured to receive the furniture support therein, and wherein the table clamp assembly comprises:
 a camming member; and   a lever rotatable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lever is configured to cam the camming member into engagement with the furniture support in the aperture to releasably couple the tabletop to the furniture support, based on rotation of the lever toward the closed position.   
     
     
         34 . The kit of  claim 30 , wherein the furniture support comprises a second end, wherein the kit further comprises:
 a second leg support comprising a second pair of legs; and   a second leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the second end of the furniture support to the second leg support.   
     
     
         35 . The kit of  claim 30 , further comprising a second table clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the furniture support to the tabletop. 
     
     
         36 . The kit of  claim 30 , further comprising:
 a second furniture support comprising an end; and   a second leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the end of the second furniture support to the leg support.   
     
     
         37 . A kit, comprising:
 a leg support comprising a pair of legs;   a first furniture support comprising an end;   a second furniture support comprising an end;   a connector, comprising:
 a body; 
 a first connector portion configured to couple to the end of the first furniture support; and 
 a second connector portion configured to couple to the end of the second furniture support; and 
   a leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the connector to the leg support.   
     
     
         38 . The kit of  claim 37 , wherein the leg clamp assembly defines an aperture configured to receive the connector, and wherein the leg clamp assembly comprises:
 a camming member; and   a lever rotatable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lever is configured to cam the camming member into engagement with the body of the connector in the aperture to releasably couple the connector to the leg support, based on rotation of the lever toward the closed position.   
     
     
         39 . The kit of  claim 37 , further comprising
 a third furniture support comprising an end;   a fourth furniture support comprising an end; and   a second connector, comprising:
 a body; 
 a first connector portion configured to couple to the end of the third furniture support; and 
 a second connector portion configured to couple to the end of the fourth furniture support; and 
   a second leg clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the second connector to the leg support.   
     
     
         40 . The kit of  claim 37 , further comprising:
 a first tabletop;   a second tabletop;   a first table clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the first tabletop to the first furniture support; and   a second table clamp assembly configured to releasably couple the second tabletop to the second furniture support.   
     
     
         41 . The kit of  claim 40 , wherein the first table clamp assembly defines an aperture configured to receive the first furniture support therein, and wherein the first table clamp assembly comprises:
 a camming member; and   a lever rotatable between an open position and a closed position, wherein the lever is configured to cam the camming member into engagement with the first furniture support in the aperture to releasably secure the first tabletop to the first furniture support, based on rotation of the lever toward the closed position.   
     
     
         42 . The kit of  claim 40 , wherein the first connector portion is configured to threadably couple to the end of the first furniture support, and wherein the second connector portion is configured to threadably couple to the end of the second furniture support.
