Fluid Delivery Line and Connection System for Targeted Temperature Management System
Abstract
A fluid delivery line (FDL) for use in transporting a targeted temperature management (TTM) fluid between a TTM module and a thermal contact pad is disclosed. The FDL can include a bi-luminal fluid conduit and a bi-luminal proximal FDL connector. The two lumens of the proximal connector can be concentrically arranged. An authentication tag attached to the FDL can provide authentication data to a TTM module. A TTM system can include a connection adapter added to an existing TTM module where the adapter includes the electro-mechanical valves. An adapter controller operates the valves in accordance with obtained authentication data from the tag. Fluid connection systems can include valves that automatically open and close upon connection and disconnection. Fluid conduits and connectors can include concentrically arranged fluid lumens.

1 . A fluid delivery line (FDL) for use in transporting a targeted temperature management (TTM) fluid between a TTM module and one or more thermal-contact pads applied to a patient, the FDL comprising:
a proximal FDL connector at a proximal end of the FDL configured to connect with the TTM module; an FDL conduit including:
a fluid delivery lumen;
a fluid return lumen in a side-by-side arrangement with the fluid delivery lumen; and
a bifurcation in the FDL conduit defining a pair of FDL conduit legs; and
a pair of distal manifold hubs respectively coupled to the pair of FDL legs at a distal end of the FDL, each distal manifold hub including one or more distal hub connectors configured for respectively connecting to one or more pad connectors of the one-or-more thermal-contact pads, and each distal hub connector of the one-or-more distal hub connectors including a displaceable member configured to engage or disengage a pad-to-hub latching mechanism to respectively secure or release a corresponding pad connector of the one-or-more pad connectors from the distal hub connector.
2 . The FDL of claim 1 , further comprising wiring extending along a length of the FDL.
3 . The FDL of claim 1 , wherein the proximal FDL connector is configured to fluidly, mechanically, and electrically connect with the TTM module.
4 . The FDL of claim 1 , wherein the one-or-more distal hub connectors are configured to fluidly, mechanically, and electrically connect with the one-or-more pad connectors, respectively.
5 . The FDL of claim 1 , wherein the displaceable member is a button.
6 . The FDL of claim 5 , wherein the button is configured to disengage the latching mechanism when pressed, thereby allowing the corresponding pad connector of the one-or-more pad connectors to be released from the distal hub connector of the one-or-more distal hub connectors.
7 . The FDL of claim 5 , wherein the button is configured to disengage the latching mechanism when pressed, thereby allowing the corresponding pad connector of the one-or-more pad connectors to be secured to the distal hub connector of the one-or-more distal hub connectors.
8 . The FDL of claim 1 , each distal hub connector of the one-or-more distal hub connectors includes a sealing member configured to define a seal with a valve of the corresponding pad connector of the one-or-more pad connectors when the corresponding pad connector is secured to the distal hub connector.
9 . The FDL of claim 8 , wherein the valve is biased toward a closed state such that the valve of the corresponding pad connector of the one-or-more pad connectors automatically closes when the corresponding pad connector is disconnected from the distal hub connector.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
