Abstract

Feedback is received from a plurality of devices. External data is also received. Statistical patterns of the plurality of devices are determined based on the feedback. A policy is determined based on the statistical patterns, the feedback, and the external data. The policy may include a set of rules dictating the operation of each of the plurality of devices and reducing energy consumption at the plurality of devices. Control data based on the policy is transmitted to the plurality of devices. The control data may be operative to transform the operation of the plurality of devices according to the set of rules.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A system comprising:
 at least one sensor, wherein the at least one sensor detects motion in a vicinity of a lighting device, wherein the motion detected is used to count a number of people detected in the vicinity of the lighting device over a period of time; a controller remotely located from and in communication with the at least one sensor and the lighting device, wherein the lighting device comprises: a driver, wherein the driver includes configuration data for providing power to a light emitting diode (LED) light source of the lighting device; a communications device in communication with the controller; a processor in communication with the driver and communications device configured to: receive, via the communications device, control data from the controller, wherein the control data is based at least in part on the number of people detected in the vicinity of the lighting device over the period of time previously detected by the at least one sensor; and based at least in part on the control data, change at least one value of the configuration data of the driver to change the power delivered to the LED light source.

         2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the controller, via the communications device, authenticates the lighting device by reading data from an identification chip on the lighting device and verifying the data on the identification chip.

         3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the lighting device is further configured to receive, via the communications device, a power cost schedule for the lighting device.

         4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control data is further based at least in part on weather forecast data.

         5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the control data is further based at least in part on prior sales data or product data associated with a product in the vicinity of the lighting device.

         6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein changing at least one value of the configuration data of the driver to change the power delivered to the LED light source increases the light output of the LED light source of the lighting device.

         7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the configuration data includes current or voltage setting values.

         8 . A system comprising:
 at least one sensor, wherein the at least one sensor detects at least one of humidity, pressure, smoke, gas, or sound in a vicinity of the lighting device over a period of time; a controller remotely located from and in communication with the at least one sensor and the lighting device, wherein the lighting device comprises:
 a driver, wherein the driver includes configuration data for providing power to a light emitting diode (LED) light source of the lighting device;
 a communications device in communication with the controller;
 a processor in communication with the driver and communications device configured to:
 receive, via the communications device, control data from the controller, wherein the control data is based at least in part on the detected humidity, pressure, smoke, gas, or sound in the vicinity of the lighting device over the period of time previously detected by the at least one sensor; and
 based at least in part on the control data, change at least one value of the configuration data of the driver to change the power delivered to the LED light source.
