Reduced sized wearable retractable

Abstract

A swivel connector for a retractable assembly comprises a body defining a hollow portion, an indicator block received within the hollow portion of the body and sized to be movable within the body, a support upon which the indicator block rests, the support being movable relative to the body, and a yoke to which a lifeline can be connected, the yoke being connected to the support. The yoke and support move relative to the hollow portion of the body in unison, such that movement of the yoke and body relative to each other will cause the indicator block to move relative to the body between a first position and a second position, and wherein the indicator block is visible when in at least one of said first and second positions, to indicate that the retractable has been subject to a fall.

1 . A swivel connector for a retractable assembly; said swivel connector comprising:
 a body, at least a portion of which is hollow;   an indicator block received within the hollow portion of said body and sized to be movable within said hollow portion of said body;   a support upon which said indicator block rests, said support being movable relative to said body;   a yoke to which a lifeline can be connected, said yoke being connected to said support,   whereby said yoke and said support move relative to said hollow portion of said body in unison, such that movement of said yoke and body relative to each other will cause said indicator block to move relative to said body between a first position and a second position, said indicator block being visible when it is in at least one of said first and second positions such that said connector provides a visible indicator of having been subject to a fall.   
     
     
         2 . The swivel connector of  claim 1  including a stop in said hollow portion of said body above said indicator block such that said indicator block is positioned between said stop and said support; said stop preventing said indicator block from moving to said second position except in a fall condition. 
     
     
         3 . The swivel connector of  claim 2  wherein said stop is adapted to be broken under the force of a fall, such that, in a fall condition, said stop breaks, thereby becoming a broken stop, so as to permit said indicator block to move to said second position. 
     
     
         4 . The swivel connector of  claim 3  wherein said broken stop engages said indicator block to prevent said indicator block from returning to said first position. 
     
     
         5 . The swivel connector of  claim 1  wherein said body includes opposed slots; said support comprising a pin which extends through said body to be received in said slots; said yoke being connected to said pin on opposite sides of said pin; said slots defining a path of travel for said pin. 
     
     
         6 . The swivel connector of  claim 5 , wherein said slots have a lower end and an upper end, said upper end being axially spaced from said lower end, whereby said pin is movable axially relative to said body. 
     
     
         7 . The swivel connector of  claim 1 , wherein, said indicator block is visible when in said second position. 
     
     
         8 . The swivel connector of  claim 7  wherein, in said second position, at least a portion of said indictor block extends above a top edge of said body. 
     
     
         9 . A retractable assembly comprising:
 a retractable housing; and   a swivel connector affixed to the retractable housing; said swivel connector comprising
 a body at least a portion of which is hollow; 
 an indicator block received within the hollow portion of said body and sized to be movable within said hollow portion of said body; 
 a support upon which said indicator block rests, said support being movable relative to said body; 
 a yoke to which a lifeline can be connected, said yoke being connected to said support, 
 whereby said yoke and said support move relative to said hollow portion of said body in unison, such that movement of said yoke and body relative to each other will cause said indicator block to move relative to said body between a first position and a second position, said indicator block being visible when it is in at least one of said first and second positions such that said connector provides a visible indicator of having been subject to a fall. 
   
     
     
         10 . The retractable assembly of  claim 9  wherein the retractable comprises an outer frame and an inner frame, wherein said support is affixed to said outer frame. 
     
     
         11 . The swivel connector and retractable assembly on  claim 9  wherein the retractable comprises a stop member, wherein said support is affixed to the top of said stop member.
