Abstract

The invention provides novel compositions of fluorocarbon nanoemulsions comprising one or more of fluorosurfactants and phospholipids, and methods of preparation and use thereof for enhanced oxygen delivery.

         46 . A composition of perfluoropentane nanoemulsion comprising:
 perfluoropentane; and   one or more surfactants selected from perfluoro-n-hexyl-oligoethyleneoxy-alcohols,   
       wherein the nanoemulsion is characterized by:
 perfluoropentane accounting for a weight percent in the nanoemulsion from about 1% to about 10%, 
 the perfluoro-n-hexyl-oligoethyleneoxy-alcohol accounting for a weight percent in the nanoemulsion from about 0.10% to about 7.5%, 
 a particle distribution wherein 99% of the particles are measured to have particle diameters of less than or equal to 400 nm, and 
 the perfluoro-n-hexyl-oligoethyleneoxy-alcohol is selected from the group consisting of: 
 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
     
     
         47 . The composition of  claim 46 , wherein the perfluoro-n-hexyl-oligoethyleneoxy-alcohol accounts for a weight percent in the nanoemulsion from about 0.10% to about 1.5%.

 perfluoropentane; and   a perfluoro-n-hexyl-oligoethyleneoxy-alcohol as a surfactant,   
       wherein the nanoemulsion is characterized by:
 perfluoropentane accounting for a weight percent in the nanoemulsion from about 1% to about 10%, 
 the perfluoro-n-hexyl-oligoethyleneoxy-alcohol accounting for a weight percent in the nanoemulsion from about 0.10% to about 7.5%,
