Abstract

The disclosed technology includes systems and methods for water filtration. In one implementation, a system includes a water receptacle to house unfiltered water, the receptacle including an aperture located in a sidewall, a valve component located on an exterior surface of the sidewall in alignment with a filter housing located on an interior surface of the sidewall filtrate the unfiltered water. In one implementation, a method includes filling a water receptacle with unfiltered water, filtrating the unfiltered water through a filter housing in the water receptacle to obtain filtered water, and moving the filtered water from the filter housing and out of a valve component connected to a first end of a filter housing.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A water filtration system adapted for use with a container of an arbitrary configuration, the water filter comprising:
 an outlet configured to be disposed outside the container;   a filter housing configured to be disposed inside the container, the filter housing comprising a first portion and a second portion;
 the first portion comprising a filter attachment mechanism providing fluid communication between the filter housing and the outlet; and
 the second portion comprising filter media; and
   a filter sleeve comprising:
 a sleeve body defining a filter media cavity and having one or more inlet ports; and
 a sleeve attachment mechanism providing fluid communication between the sleeve body and the first portion of the filter housing, the filter sleeve having a connected configuration and a disconnected configuration;
 the connected configuration disposing the sleeve body to enclose the filter media and provide liquid communication between the filter media and an interior of the container through the one or more input ports, and
 the disconnected configuration, disposing the sleeve body to expose the filter media for inspection and cleaning.

         2 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the container comprises a rigid sidewall.

         3 . The water filtration system of claim 2 , wherein the container is one of a bucket, a can, a drum, a jug, or a bottle.

         3 . The water filtration system of claim 2 , wherein the filter attachment mechanism provides the liquid connection between the first portion of the filter housing and the outlet through an aperture in the rigid sidewall of the container.

         4 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the filter attachment mechanism provides the liquid connection between the first portion of the filter housing and the outlet through an aperture in a lid of the container.

         5 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve attachment mechanism comprises a friction fit with the first portion of the filter housing.

         6 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve attachment mechanism comprises a bead that interlocks with a corresponding bead on the first portion of the filter housing.

         7 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve attachment mechanism comprises a threaded portion that interfaces with a corresponding threaded portion of the first portion of the filter housing.

         8 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve attachment mechanism comprises a twist fit that interfaces with a corresponding twist fit of the first portion of the filter housing.

         9 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the filter attachment mechanism provides a removable connection between the filter housing and the outlet.

         10 . The water filtration system of claim 9 , wherein the removable connection is watertight when connected.

         11 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve attachment mechanism provides a removable connection between the sleeve body and the first portion of the filter housing.

         12 . The water filtration system of claim 11 , wherein the removable connection is watertight when connected.

         13 . The water filtration system of claim 1 , wherein the filter media comprises a plurality of porous tubes.

         14 . A water filtration system comprising:
 a container; and a water filter displaced at least partially within the container, the water filter comprising:
 an outlet configured to be disposed outside the container;
 a filter housing configured to be disposed inside the container, the filter housing comprising a first portion and a second portion;
 the first portion comprising a filter attachment mechanism providing fluid communication between the filter housing and the outlet; and
 the second portion comprising filter media; and

 a filter sleeve comprising:
 a sleeve body defining a filter media cavity and having one or more inlet ports; and
 a sleeve attachment mechanism providing fluid communication between the sleeve body and the first portion of the filter housing, the filter sleeve having a connected configuration and a disconnected configuration;
 the connected configuration disposing the sleeve body to enclose the filter media and provide liquid communication between the filter media and an interior of the container through the one or more input ports, and
 the disconnected configuration disposing the sleeve body to expose the filter media for inspection and cleaning.

         15 . The water filtration system of claim 14 , wherein the container comprises a rigid sidewall.

         16 . The water filtration system of claim 15 , wherein the container is one of a bucket, a can, a drum, a jug, or a bottle.
