Abstract

A system is provided herein that includes a hub and one or more speakers in communication with the hub and configured to transmit one or more filter parameters to the hub. The hub is configured to filter audio that is output to each respective speaker using the one or more filter parameters. A speaker selector module is configured to allow a user to select a slot based on a position of each respective speaker. The hub is operable to transmit audio signals to each of the one or more speakers as a function of the slot setting.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A hub, comprising:
 a wireless transceiver configured to communicate with one or more speakers; and a signal processing module configured to:
 obtain, via the wireless transceiver, one or more filter parameters and a channel from each speaker of the one or more speakers;
 receive an audio signal;
 generate a filtered audio signal based on the one or more filter parameters for each speaker of the one or more speakers; and
 transmit, via the wireless transceiver, the filtered audio signal to each speaker of the one or more speakers based on the channel of the respective speaker.

         2 . The hub of claim 1 , wherein to obtain the channel from each speaker of the one or more speakers, the signal processing module is configured to:
 detect the one or more speakers; pair with one or more speakers; and receive the channel from each speaker of the one or more speakers.

         3 . The hub of claim 1 , wherein to receive the audio signal, the signal processing module is configured to receive the audio signal from at least one of: a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) repeater module, a Sony/Philips digital interface (S/PDIF) receiver, an analog/digital (A/D) converter, or a wireless receiver.

         4 . The hub of claim 1 , wherein the signal processing module is further configured to filter the audio signal such that a low frequency bass component is removed from a channel audio signal associated with the channel of each speaker of the one or more speakers and sum the low frequency bass component from the channel of each speaker to a subwoofer channel.

         5 . The hub of claim 1 , wherein a filter parameter of the one or more filter parameters for each speaker of the one or more speakers comprises at least one of: a filter type, a frequency, or a quality factor (Q).

         6 . The hub of claim 1 , wherein a filter parameter of the one or more filter parameters for each speaker of the one or more speakers is configured to implement a biquad filter for the respective speaker.

         7 . The hub of claim 6 , wherein the biquad filter comprises a first biquad filter and a second biquad filter.

         8 . The hub of claim 7 , wherein the first biquad filter comprises a high-pass filter, and
 wherein the second biquad filter comprises a low-pass filter.

         9 . The hub of claim 8 , wherein an output signal of the low-pass filter of each speaker of the one or more speakers is added to produce a subwoofer signal for a subwoofer.

         10 . The hub of claim 9 , wherein a low frequency effects signal is added to the subwoofer signal.

         11 . The hub of claim 9 , wherein the wireless transceiver transmits the subwoofer signal to a subwoofer.

         12 . The hub of claim 1 , wherein the signal processing module is further configured to implement the one or more filter parameters as one or more crossover filters.

         13 . The hub of claim 12 , wherein the signal processing module implement one or more crossover filters as finite impulse response (FIR) filters or infinite impulse response (IIR) filters.

         14 . A method for a hub comprising:
 obtaining one or more filter parameters and a channel from each speaker of one or more speakers; receiving an audio signal; generating a filtered audio signal based on the one or more filter parameters for each speaker of the one or more speakers; and transmitting the filtered audio signal to each speaker of the one or more speakers based on the channel of the respective speaker.

         15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising:
 filtering the audio signal such that a low frequency bass component is removed from a channel audio signal associated with the channel of each speaker of the one or more speakers and sum the low frequency bass component from the channel of each speaker to a subwoofer channel.

         16 . The method of claim 14 , wherein a filter parameter of the one or more filter parameters for each speaker of the one or more speakers comprises at least one of: a filter type, a frequency, or a quality factor (Q).

         17 . The method of claim 14 , wherein a filter parameter of the one or more filter parameters for each speaker of the one or more speakers is configured to implement a biquad filter for the respective speaker.

         18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the biquad filter comprises a high-pass filter and a low-pass filter, and
 wherein an output signal of the low-pass filter of each speaker of the one or more speakers is added to produce a subwoofer signal for a subwoofer.

         19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein a low frequency effects signal is added to the subwoofer signal.

         20 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising:
 transmitting the subwoofer signal to a subwoofer.
