Abstract

A systems and method for reconfigurable and/or updatable lightweight electronic devices are disclosed for a computer system for facilitating financial transactions and reducing the opportunity for fraud. Via use of such a device, system, or method, various capabilities for a user are provided, simplified, secured, and/or made more convenient. The system may interact with various other devices or systems, including those that are cloud-based or communicate through the cloud, and may utilize various local sensors, in order to provide one or more of improved access, monitoring, user diagnostics, and so forth.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer system for facilitating financial transactions and reducing the possibility for fraud, wherein the computer system comprises:
 (a) a merchant server configured to communicate with a user device and to receive instructions sent from the user device; (b) a merchant payment server in communication with the merchant server; (c) a merchant account in communication with the merchant payment server; and (d) a merchant device in communication with the merchant device and configured to (i) receive at least some instructions sent by the user device to the merchant server and sent by the merchant server to the merchant device, and (ii) communicate at least some of the instructions sent by the user device to a merchant agent in order to fulfill a user request; wherein the merchant payment server is configured to receive a token from the user device that indicates payment for the user request was made to the merchant account, wherein the token does not include an account number of the user.

         2 . The computer system of claim 1 that further includes the first user device, wherein the first user device has a first user device processor in communication with one or both of the merchant server and the merchant payment server, and the processor is configured to receive a cost for the user request and transmit the cost to a sever of a financial institution of the user.

         3 . The computer system of claim 2 , wherein either the merchant processor or the merchant payment processor communicates to the first user device processor information sufficient to transfer funds to the merchant account.

         4 . The computer system of claim 3 , wherein the first user device processor commands a server of a user financial institution to transfer the payment to the merchant.

         5 . The computer system of claim 4 , wherein a server of the merchant's financial institution transmits a communication to either the merchant server or the merchant payment server that the payment has been received.

         6 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the merchant server and the merchant payment server are the same device.

         7 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions sent from the user device include a requested completion time.

         8 . The computer system of claim 2 , wherein the first user device has a global positioning system (GPS) configured to communicate with the merchant server and the merchant server calculates a requested completion time for the user request based in part on the location of the user device.

         9 . The computer system of claim 8 , wherein the merchant server communicates the estimated completion time to the first user device.

         10 . The computer system of claim 1 that further includes the user device, wherein the user device comprises:
 (a) electronic circuity comprising a memory that stores an executable code resident on the circuitry, a power source, and a display, wherein each of the user device, electronic circuitry, and display are flexible so as to be functional when manipulated into a circle having a diameter of 4″ or more, 5″ or more, 6″ or more, 7″ or more, 8″ or more, 9″ or more, or 10″ or more; and
 (b) a width of ¾″ or less;
 (c) one or more remote sensors that are remote to the electronic circuitry, wherein each of the one or more remote sensors is configured to communicate with the electronic circuitry;
 (d) one or more ports, wherein each of the one or more sensors is connected to one of the one or more ports; and
 (e) wherein the electronic circuitry is configured to change the executable code stored in the memory depending upon which of the one or more remote sensors is connected to the one or more ports.

         11 . The computer system of claim 10 , wherein the user device circuitry has a length that is 50% or less of the length of the device, or 80% or less than the length of the device.

         12 . The computer system of claim 11 , wherein the user device circuitry has a thickness of 25% or less of the thickness of the device, or 25%-50% of the thickness of the device, or 75% or less of the thickness of the device.

         13 . The computer system of claim 12 , wherein the user device circuitry has a width of 90% or less of the width of the device, or between 50% and 80% of the width of the device, or between 80% and 100% of the width of the device.

         14 . The computer system of claim 10 , wherein the user device display has a length that is between 50% and 80% of the length of the device.

         15 . The computer system of claim 1 that is configured to transmit or receive data in a frequency range comprising the medical implant communications service (MICS) frequency band, the frequency range of 402 MHz to 405 MHz, the Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) frequency band, the frequency range of 608 MHz to 614 MHz, the frequency range of 1395 MHz to 1400 MHz, the frequency range of 1427 MHz to 1432 MHz, the frequency range 32 KHz to 175 KHz, or combinations thereof

         16 . The computer system of claim 1 that is configured to transmit or receive data using a wireless connection, a wired connection, or both.

         17 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the merchant payment server is configured to be authenticated before processing a payment.

         18 . The computer system of claim 11 , wherein the user device includes a plurality of ports.
