Abstract

Exemplary embodiments of the disclosure may be drawn to ingestible delivery devices. An ingestible delivery device may include a first compartment and a second compartment. A lipase may be contained within the first compartment, and a fat may be contained within the second compartment. The first compartment may be sealed from the second compartment prior to exposure to a trigger, preventing the lipase and the fat from contacting each other, and at least one of the first compartment or the second compartment may at least partially rupture upon exposure to the trigger, allowing the lipase and the fat to contact each other.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 26 . (canceled)

         27 . An ingestible delivery device comprising:
 a capsule shell having;
 an interior compartment; and
 a lipase and a fat within the interior compartment;
   wherein in a first state, the device is configured to inhibit the lipase and the fat from reacting with one another, and in a second state, at least a portion of the device is configured to at least partially dissolve in response to a trigger to allow the lipase and the fat to react with one another, forming free fatty acids and monoglycerides.

         28 . The device of claim 27 , wherein, in the first state, at least one of the lipase and the fat is in a solid phase or a gel phase that inhibits and/or slows interaction between the lipase and the fat.

         29 . The device of claim 27 , wherein, in the first state, the interior compartment contains an insufficient amount of a reactant such that the lipase is not able to hydrolyze the fat.

         30 . The device of claim 27 , wherein the fat is an omega-3 fatty acid, and wherein the device further comprises at least one of resveratrol, curcumin, magnesium, co-enzyme Q10, turmeric, or creatine.

         31 . The device of claim 27 , wherein the trigger is at least one of (i) a compressive pressure applied to the device, (ii) a neutral pH, or (iii) an alkaline pH.

         32 . The device of claim 27 , wherein at least one of the lipase and the fat are in the form of a multiphasic material configured to dissolve and mix together in a time-release manner.

         33 . The device of claim 32 , wherein the multiphasic material is chosen from one or more of solids, powders, granules, crystals, hot melts, pastes, gels, liquid, coated materials lipids, enrobed materials, softgels, nanomolecules, beadlets, microencapsulations, enchochleates, suspensions, emulsions, and/or gases.

         34 . The device of claim 27 , wherein, in the second state, one or more openings are formed in at least one of the capsule shell or interior compartment.

         35 . The device of claim 34 , wherein the one or more openings are formed upon exposure to the trigger.

         36 . The device of claim 35 , wherein the trigger is one or more of an exposure to a neutral environment, exposure to an alkaline environment, exposure to an acidic environment, a type of chemical or enzyme, a duration of time, or pressure applied to the device.

         37 . The device of claim 34 , wherein, in the first state, as the device comprises one or more weaknesses in the capsule or interior compartment, wherein the one or more weaknesses are configured to at least partially dissolve in response to the trigger to form the one or more openings.

         38 . An ingestible delivery device comprising:
 a capsule shell; an interior core including at least one compartment and a plurality of capsules; and a lipase and a fat, wherein one of the lipase and the fat is contained within the at least one compartment and the other is contained within at least one of the plurality of capsules; wherein in a first state, the lipase and the fat are isolated from each other, and in a second state, the lipase is exposed to the fat, allowing for hydrolyzation of the fat to form free fatty acids and monoglycerides.

         39 . The device of claim 38 , wherein the lipase is contained within at least one capsule of the plurality of capsules and the fat is contained in the at least one compartment.

         40 . The device of claim 38 , wherein the fat is contained within at least one capsule of the plurality of capsules and the lipase is contained in the at least one compartment.

         41 . The device of claim 38 , wherein each capsule of the plurality of capsules has an exterior layer that is configured to at least partially dissolve in response to a trigger.

         42 . The device of claim 41 , wherein the trigger is at least one of (i) a compressive pressure applied to the device, (ii) a neutral pH, or (iii) an alkaline pH.

         43 . The device of claim 38 , wherein the at least one compartment is formed from the same material as the capsules.

         44 . The device of claim 43 , wherein the at least one compartment and the capsules are formed from a polymeric material.

         45 . An ingestible delivery device comprising:
 a first compartment including a first capsule; a second compartment including a second capsule; a capsule shell surrounding the first compartment and the second compartment; a first supplement and a first enzyme within the first compartment; and a second supplement and a second enzyme within the second compartment, wherein in a first state, the first supplement and the first enzyme are isolated from each other and the second supplement and the second enzyme are isolated from each other, and in a second state, the first enzyme is exposed to the first supplement and the second enzyme is exposed to the second supplement.

         46 . The device of claim 45 , wherein the first supplement includes a fat, the first enzyme includes a lipase enzyme, the second supplement includes a protein, and the second enzyme includes a protease enzyme.

         47 . The device of claim 45 , wherein the first supplement is within the first compartment and the first enzyme is within the first capsule.

         48 . The device of claim 45 , wherein the second supplement is within the second compartment, and the second enzyme is within the second capsule.
