Compositions and methods of treating viral infections

Abstract

The present invention relates to the field of nutraceuticals, and in particular to nutraceuticals comprising sulfated polysaccharides, Astragalus polysaccharides, resveratrol, and combinations thereof. These compositions find use in inducing physiological responses such, decreasing body fat, increasing lean body mass, alleviating the symptoms of colds, preventing the onset of colds, increasing energy, increasing the feeling of well-being in subjects, and improving skin tone and appearance.

         20 . A composition comprising:
 a first component of from 0.1 g and 10.0 g of sialic acid selected form the group consisting of N-acetylneuraminic acid (NANA), n-glycolylneraminic acid (NGNA), and 2-keto-3-deoxynonic acid (KDN) and a   at least a second component selected from the group consisting of from 1 to 100 mg resveratrol, from 2 to 20 grams fucoidan and from 0.1 to 10 grams  astragalus  polysaccharide (APS).   
     
     
         21 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the sialic acid is NANA. 
     
     
         22 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the sialic acid is NGNA. 
     
     
         23 . The composition of  claim 20  wherein the sialic acid is KDN. 
     
     
         24 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the at least a second component is from 1 to 100 mg resveratrol. 
     
     
         25 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the at least a second component is from 2 to 20 grams fucoidan. 
     
     
         26 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the at least second component is from 0.1 to 10 grams  astragalus  polysaccharide (APS). 
     
     
         27 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the at least second component is a combination of from 2 to 20 grams fucoidan and from 0.1 to 10 grams  astragalus  polysaccharide (APS). 
     
     
         28 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the at least second component is a combination of from 1 to 100 mg resveratrol and from 2 to 20 grams fucoidan. 
     
     
         29 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the at least second component is a combination of from 1 to 100 mg resveratrol and from 0.1 to 10 grams  astragalus  polysaccharide (APS). 
     
     
         30 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the at least second component is a combination of from 1 to 100 mg resveratrol, from 0.1 to 10 grams  astragalus  polysaccharide (APS), and from 2 to 20 grams fucoidan.
