Browser with docked tabs
Abstract
Systems and methods for displaying an icon representation of a webpage are provided. In one exemplary method, while displaying a web browser, an electronic device receives a request to display an icon representation of a webpage. In response to receiving the request, the device determines whether the webpage provides access to an image that meets predefined quality standards. In accordance with a determination that the webpage provides access to an image that meets predefined quality standards, the device displays the high-quality image as an icon associated with the webpage at a respective location in the web browser. In accordance with a determination that the webpage does not provide access to an image that meets the predefined quality standards, the device identifies other content associated with the webpage, generates a generated icon based on the content, and displays the generated icon at a respective location in the web browser.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . An electronic device, comprising:
a display; one or more processors; and memory storing one or more programs configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
concurrently displaying, on the display, a defined region and a browser application that includes a first tab, wherein the defined region is separate from the first tab;
while concurrently displaying the defined region and the first tab, detecting a first user input for selecting the first tab and moving the first tab to the defined region, wherein the first user input includes a drag gesture and a lift-off gesture; and
in response to detecting the first user input for selecting the first tab and moving the first tab to the defined region:
displaying a first icon in the defined region corresponding to the first tab.
3 . The electronic device of claim 2 , the one or more programs further including instructions for:
in response to detecting the first user input selecting the first tab and moving the first tab to the defined region:
ceasing to display the first tab in the browser application.
4 . The electronic device of claim 2 , the one or more programs further including instructions for:
detecting a second user input on a second tab, different from the first tab, displaying second content in the browser application; in accordance with a determination that the second user input meets or exceeds a predetermined threshold, displaying a contextual menu, the contextual menu includes an affordance for moving the second tab to the defined region; detecting a third user input directed to the affordance for moving the second tab to the defined region; in response to detecting the third user input:
displaying a second icon corresponding to the second tab in the defined region; and
ceasing to display the second tab in the browser application.
5 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the first tab includes media playback, the one or more programs including instructions for:
detecting a fourth user input corresponding to the first icon in the defined region; and in response to detecting the fourth user input, displaying a control interface for controlling the media playback.
6 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the first icon in the defined region identifies content associated with the first tab.
7 . The electronic device of claim 2 , wherein the visual appearance of the first icon in the defined region is based on at least one characteristic of content corresponding to content associated with the first tab.
8 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by one or more processors of an electronic device with a display, the one or more programs including instructions for:
concurrently displaying, on the display, a defined region and a browser application that includes a first tab, wherein the defined region is separate from the first tab; while concurrently displaying the defined region and the first tab, detecting a first user input for selecting the first tab and moving the first tab to the defined region, wherein the first user input includes a drag gesture and a lift-off gesture; and in response to detecting the first user input for selecting the first tab and moving the first tab to the defined region:
displaying a first icon in the defined region corresponding to the first tab.
9 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
at an electronic device with a display:
concurrently displaying, on the display, a defined region and a browser application that includes a first tab, wherein the defined region is separate from the first tab;
while concurrently displaying the defined region and the first tab, detecting a first user input for selecting the first tab and moving the first tab to the defined region, wherein the first user input includes a drag gesture and a lift-off gesture; and
in response to detecting the first user input for selecting the first tab and moving the first tab to the defined region:
displaying a first icon in the defined region corresponding to the first tab.Cited by (0)
