Adjustable mattress spacing frame to facilitate bedmaking
Abstract
A passive adjustable frame acts as an edge “spacer” around the peripheral bottom edge of the mattress positioned between the bottom of the mattress and an underlying support, such as a box spring, slats, platform etc. The spacer has an angled upper surface which creates a gap into which bedding may be more easily tucked without lifting the mattress. The spacer may be adjustable in length and width so that the peripheral length and width dimensions that are roughly the same size as the mattress with which the frame is being used and it is thus universally adaptable to multiple different standard mattress sizes.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A mattress spacer comprising an adjustable frame having a first pair of diagonally opposed right angled corner members each having elongated arms with open ends, and a second pair of diagonally opposed right angled corner members each having elongated arms,
wherein cross-sectional dimensions of the second pair of diagonally opposed right angle corner members are smaller than the cross-sectional dimensions of the first pair of diagonally opposed right angle corner members, wherein the elongated arms of the second pair of diagonally opposed right angled corner members are slidably received in telescoping relation within the open ends of the elongated arms of the first pair of diagonally opposed right angled corner members such that the frame may be adjustable in length and width to accommodate different size mattresses.
2 . The mattress spacer of claim 1 wherein each of the corner members has an inverted trough shape with an inner wall, an outer wall and a top wall, and wherein the inner wall is taller than the outer wall and the top wall is downwardly and outwardly angled.
3 . The mattress spacer of claim 2 wherein the bottom edge of the inner wall and the outer wall and angled inwardly toward each other.
4 . The mattress spacer of claim 2 wherein the top wall is convexly curved.
5 . The mattress spacer of claim 3 wherein the top wall is convexly curved.
6 . The mattress spacer of claim 1 wherein the elongated arms of each right angled corner member are rotatably hinged relative to each other.
7 . The mattress spacer of claim 6 wherein each of the corner members has an inverted trough shape with an inner wall, an outer wall and a top wall, and wherein the inner wall is taller than the outer wall and the top wall is downwardly and outwardly angled.
8 . The mattress spacer of claim 7 wherein the bottom edge of the inner wall and the outer wall and angled inwardly toward each other.
9 . The mattress spacer of claim 7 wherein the top wall is convexly curved.
10 . The mattress spacer of claim 8 wherein the top wall is convexly curved.
11 . The mattress spacer of claim 6 wherein each right angled corner member includes a triangular corner brace.
12 . The mattress spacer of claim 11 wherein each of the corner members has an inverted trough shape with an inner wall, an outer wall and a top wall, and wherein the inner wall is taller than the outer wall and the top wall is downwardly and outwardly angled.
13 . The mattress spacer of claim 12 wherein the bottom edge of the inner wall and the outer wall and angled inwardly toward each other.
14 . The mattress spacer of claim 12 wherein the top wall is convexly curved.
15 . The mattress spacer of claim 13 wherein the top wall is convexly curved.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
