Attachable display device

Abstract

The present disclosure provides an attachable external display screen for use on electronic devices. The display screen may be removably mounted onto a surface of an electronic device to provide the user with an additional display screen. The attachable display screen may utilize a dual sliding mechanism that allows for the display screen to slide out to different lengths relative to the screen of the electronic device. The attachable display screen may also utilize a torque hinge to pivotally couple the display screen to a frame that mounts onto the electronic device. The attachable display screen is rotatable about both the horizontal and vertical axes, which allows a user to tilt and adjust the angle of the display screen.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An attachable display device, comprising:
 a mount configured for attachment to a portable electronic device,   a hinge operatively connected to the mount,   a display screen operatively connected to the hinge,   wherein the display screen is operable to move between a first position in which the display screen is positioned behind the mount and a second position in which the display screen extends outwardly from the mount, and   wherein the display screen is rotatable about a first axis of rotation to allow the display screen to be placed in a tilted configuration and the display screen is rotatable about a second axis of rotation to allow the display screen to be placed in an angled configuration.   
     
     
         2 . The attachable display device of  claim 1 , wherein the hinge comprises a pivot point and the display screen is coupled to the pivot point. 
     
     
         3 . The attachable display device of  claim 1 , wherein the mount is configured for attachment to a rear of the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         4 . The attachable display device of  claim 1 , wherein the first axis of rotation is a horizontal axis and the second axis of rotation is a vertical axis. 
     
     
         5 . The attachable display device of  claim 1 , wherein the display screen comprises an electrical connector mounted therein and accessible from outside the display screen. 
     
     
         6 . The attachable display device of  claim 5 , wherein the electrical connector is a USB-C connector. 
     
     
         7 . An attachable display device, comprising:
 a mount configured for attachment to a portable electronic device,   a torque hinge operatively connected to the mount,   a display screen operatively connected to the mount via the torque hinge,   wherein the display screen is operable to move between a first position in which the display screen is positioned behind the mount and a second position in which the display screen extends outwardly from the mount, and   wherein the display screen is configured to rotate 360 degrees about a horizontal axis to allow the display screen to be placed in a tilted configuration.   
     
     
         8 . The attachable display device of  claim 7 , wherein the display screen is configured to rotate about a vertical axis to allow the display screen to be placed in an angled configuration. 
     
     
         9 . The attachable display device of  claim 8 , wherein the display screen is configured to rotate 180 degrees about the vertical axis to allow the display screen to be deployed in a presentation position. 
     
     
         10 . The attachable display device of  claim 7 , wherein the torque hinge comprises a pivot point and the display screen is coupled to the pivot point. 
     
     
         11 . The attachable display device of  claim 7 , wherein the mount is configured for attachment to a rear of the portable electronic device. 
     
     
         12 . The attachable display device of  claim 7 , wherein the display screen comprises an electrical connector mounted therein and accessible from outside the display screen. 
     
     
         13 . The attachable display device of  claim 12 , wherein the electrical connector is a USB-C connector. 
     
     
         14 . An attachable display device, comprising:
 a mount configured for attachment to a portable electronic device,   a hinge operatively connected to the mount, wherein the hinge comprises a pivot point,   a display screen coupled to the pivot point,   wherein the display screen is operable to move between a first position in which the display screen is positioned behind the mount and a second position in which the display screen extends outwardly from the mount, and   wherein the display screen is rotatable about a horizontal axis of rotation to allow the display screen to be placed in a tilted configuration and the display screen is rotatable about a vertical axis of rotation to allow the display screen to be placed in an angled configuration.   
     
     
         15 . The attachable display device of  claim 14 , further comprising a kickstand operatively attached to the torque hinge. 
     
     
         16 . The attachable display device of  claim 15 , wherein the kickstand has a shape that conforms to the contour of the mount such that the kickstand is integral with the mount. 
     
     
         17 . The attachable display device of  claim 14 , wherein the display screen is rotatable 360 degrees about the horizontal axis of rotation. 
     
     
         18 . The attachable display device of  claim 14 , wherein the display screen is rotatable 180 degrees about the vertical axis of rotation to allow the display screen to be deployed in a presentation position.
