Abstract
A method of performing cell selection or reselection by a user equipment (UE) in a radio resource control (RRC) idle mode or an RRC inactive mode is disclosed. The method comprises determining whether a white list is received from a serving cell, wherein the white list includes at least one cell identity, each of the at least one cell identity identifying a cell on at least one of an intra-frequency and an inter-frequency corresponding to a frequency that the serving cell is on, in response to the UE determining that the white list is received from the serving cell, performing a measurement on at least one cell associated with the at least one cell identity according to the white list, and selecting or reselecting a cell according to the measurement, the cell indicated only by the at least one cell identity in the white list.

receiving one or more white lists from a serving cell, each of the one or more white lists comprising at least one cell identity, each of the at least one cell identity for identifying a cell; deriving a physical cell identity (PCI) upon decoding a synchronization signal; determining whether the PCI corresponds to one of the at least one cell identity in at least one of the one or more white lists; in response to determining that the PCI corresponds to one of the at least one cell identity in at least one of the one or more white lists, evaluating the cell corresponding to the PCI; and in response to determining that the PCI does not correspond to any one of the at least one cell identity in at least one of the one or more white lists, not evaluating the cell corresponding to the PCI
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the white list includes a maximum of 16 cell identities.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein each cell identity in the at least one of the one or more white lists is identified by a start value of a PCI and a range indicating the number of the PCIs.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the white list is received via one of a system information block (SIB)3 and a SIB4.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving, from the serving cell, at least one of Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) information, area information, and frequency information associated with the white list.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further wherein the evaluated cell comprises a candidate cell for at least one of selecting and reselecting.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the candidate cell comprises a suitable cell on which the UE may camp.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the candidate cell comprises an acceptable cell on which the UE may camp to obtain limited services.
9 . A user equipment (UE) for performing at least one of cell selection and reselection, the UE comprising:
a processor, for executing computer-executable instructions; and a non-transitory computer-readable medium, coupled to the processor, for storing the computer-executable instructions, wherein the computer-executable instructions instruct the processor to:
receive one or more white lists from a serving cell, each of the one or more white lists comprising at least one cell identity, each of the at least one cell identity for identifying a cell;
derive a physical cell identity (PCI) upon decoding a synchronization signal;
determine whether the PCI corresponds to one of the at least one cell identity in at least one of the one or more white lists;
in response to determining that the PCI corresponds to one of the at least one cell identity in at least one of the one or more white lists, evaluate the cell corresponding to the PCI; and
in response to determining that the PCI does not correspond to any one of the at least one cell identity in at least one of the one or more white lists, not evaluate the cell corresponding to the PCI.
10 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein white list includes a maximum of 16 cell identities.
11 . The UE of claim 10 , wherein each of cell identity in the at least one of the one or more white lists is identified by a start value of a PCI and a range indicating the number of the PCIs.
12 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the white list is received via one of a system information block (SIB)3 and a SIB4.
13 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the computer-executable instructions further instruct the processor to:
receive, from the serving cell, at least one of Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) information, area information and frequency information associated with the at least one of the one or more white lists.
14 . The UE of claim 9 , further wherein the evaluated cell comprises a candidate cell for at least one of selecting and reselecting.
15 . The UE of claim 14 , wherein the candidate cell comprises a suitable cell on which the UE may camp.
