Abstract

An accommodating intraocular lens device is provided. The accommodating intraocular lens device comprises a base assembly and a power lens. The base assembly comprises a first open end, a second end coupled to a base lens, and a haptic surrounding a central cavity. The haptic may comprise an outer periphery, an inner surface and a height between a first edge and a second edge. The power lens is configured to fit within the central cavity. The power lens may comprise a first side, a second side, a peripheral edge coupling the first and second sides, and a closed cavity configured to house a fluid. The first side of the power lens may be positioned at a predetermined distance from the first edge of the haptic.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of fins are circumferentially distributed about the peripheral edge of the second component.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein each of the plurality of fins is equidistantly spaced from adjacent fins of the plurality of fins in a circumferential direction.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of fins comprises three fins.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein at least one of the plurality of fins comprises a thickness that is greater in an anterior-posterior direction compared to a thickness of the at least one of the plurality of fins in a circumferential direction.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein at least one of the plurality of fins comprises a thickness that is greater in a circumferential direction compared to a thickness of the at least one of the plurality of fins in an anterior-posterior direction.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein the haptic comprises a plurality of notches disposed in an outer periphery.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 9 , wherein each of the plurality of notches is equidistantly spaced from adjacent notches of the plurality of notches in a circumferential direction.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of notches comprises three notches.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein the second component is configured to be disposed anterior to the first lens.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein the second component comprises a biconvex optic.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 13 , wherein the second component further comprises a membrane that together with the biconvex optic bounds a space configured to receive a fluid.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of anterior walls comprise a first color to aid a surgeon in assembling the intraocular lens device in an eye, wherein the first color is different than a second color of the second component.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 2 , wherein the haptic comprises a plurality of cutouts that are open in an anterior direction.

. An intraocular lens device comprising:
a lens housing comprising a first open end, a second end comprising a first focusing element, a haptic surrounding a space, and a plurality of anterior walls, each of the plurality of anterior walls spanning between 30 and 180 degrees of a circumference of the haptic; and a second focusing element configured to be positioned within the space, the second focusing element comprising a peripheral edge and a plurality of flanges extending radially outward from the peripheral edge; wherein each of the plurality of flanges is configured to be disposed posterior to one of the plurality of anterior walls to secure the second focusing element within the space of the lens housing.

. The intraocular lens device of claim 17 , wherein the second focusing element is configured to be positioned within the space and anterior to the first focusing element after placement of the lens housing within an eye.
