Abstract
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to reduce power consumption and improve battery life of display systems using adaptive sync are disclosed. An example apparatus includes an interface to transmit frame data to a sink device, the frame data generated by a processor; a timer to initiate in response to the transmission of the frame data to the sink device; and the interface to transmit a low power indication to the sink device after the timer reaches a threshold amount of time.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . (canceled)
2 . A source device comprising:
memory; computer readable instructions; and processor circuitry to execute the computer readable instructions to:
determine a capability supported by sink circuitry;
cause transmission of a video image from the source device to the sink circuitry via a main link;
after a duration of time associated with a vertical blanking period, turn off the main link;
cause transmission of a wake command to the sink circuitry based on a video image update via a second channel; and
cause transmission of the video image update to the sink circuitry via the main link.
3 . The source device of claim 2 , wherein the video image update is a partial update to the video image.
4 . The source device of claim 3 , wherein the processor circuitry is to cause transmission of information associated with the partial update.
5 . The source device of claim 2 , wherein the processor circuitry is to cause transmission of the video image update after the main link is turned on.
6 . The source device of claim 2 , wherein the processor circuitry includes a graphics processing unit.
7 . The source device of claim 2 , wherein the processor circuitry is to turn off the main link to conserve power.
8 . The source device of claim 2 , wherein the duration of time is within the vertical blanking period.
9 . A system comprising:
source circuitry to:
determine a capability supported by sink circuitry;
cause transmission of a video image to the sink circuitry via a main link;
after a duration of time associated with a vertical blanking period, turn off the main link;
cause transmission of a wake command to the sink circuitry based on a video image update via a second channel; and
cause transmission of the video image update to the sink circuitry via the main link; and
the sink circuitry to:
obtain the video image from the sink circuitry via the main link;
output the video image on a display;
obtain the wake command via the second channel; and
output the video image update on the display.
10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the video image update is a partial update to the video image.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the source circuitry is to cause transmission of information associated with the partial update.
12 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the source circuitry is to cause transmission of the video image update after the main link is turned on.
13 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the source circuitry includes a graphics processing unit.
14 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the source circuitry is to turn off the main link to conserve power.
15 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the duration of time is within the vertical blanking period.
16 . A method comprising:
determining, by executing an instruction with processor circuitry, a capability supported by sink circuitry; transmitting of a video image to the sink circuitry via a main link; after a duration of time associated with a vertical blanking period, turning off, by executing an instruction with the processor circuitry, the main link; transmitting of a wake command to the sink circuitry based on a video image update via a second channel; and transmitting of the video image update to the sink circuitry via the main link.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the video image update is a partial update to the video image.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further including transmitting information associated with the partial update.
19 . The method of claim 16 , further including transmitting the video image update after the main link is turned on.
20 . The method of claim 16 , further including turning off the main link to conserve power.
21 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the duration of time is within the vertical blanking period.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
