Abstract

Devices and methods are disclosed for assisting a user of a drug delivery device with an application executing on a mobile computing device. The mobile computing device may receive information from the drug delivery device related to its condition and/or operation and subsequently select an informational and/or instructional prompt to be displayed to the user based on the received information. The mobile computing device may also generate a display in the application including the selected informational prompt and/or the instructional prompt. Accordingly, the user of the drug delivery device can be guided through the drug delivery process in real time, thereby reducing the likelihood of improper or incomplete use of the drug delivery device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method of monitoring use of a drug delivery device with an application executing on a mobile computing device including a processor and a memory, the method comprising:
receiving, at a mobile communication module of the mobile computing device, state information related to the drug delivery device, the state information determined by a controller of the drug delivery device and comprising at least one of (a) condition state information, (b) operational state information, or (c) identity information; generating a report including the state information; and storing the report in a memory of the mobile computing device.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the state information comprises operational state information including at least one of (a) drug delivery information, (b) operational error information, (c) packaging state information, or (d) storage state information.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the operational state information comprises drug delivery information including at least one of (a) status of delivery trigger, (b) status of device application to patient, (c) status of cannula insertion, (d) status of drug delivery, or (e) status of delivery completion.

         4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein
the operational state information comprises operational error information including whether the drug delivery device has not performed properly.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the state information comprises identity information including at least one of (a) drug delivery device identity information, (b) drug identity information, or (c) patient identity information.

         6 . The method of claim 5 ,
wherein the identity information comprises drug delivery device identity information including at least one of (a) a serial number of the drug delivery device, (b) a date of manufacture of the drug delivery device, or (c) a type of drug delivery device, and optionally wherein the identity information comprises drug identity information including at least one of (a) a drug name, (b) a drug concentration, (c) dose information, (d) a lot or serial number, (e) a date of manufacture, or (f) a date of expiration.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the state information comprises the mobile communication module communicating with the drug delivery device over a first network.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
transmitting the report, with the mobile communication module, to a remote computing device, and optionally wherein transmitting the report to the remote computing device comprises the mobile communication module communicating with the remote computing device over a second network.

         9 . The method of claim 1 ,
wherein the mobile computing device comprises at least one of a smartphone, a smartwatch, a smart wearable device, a personal computer, a laptop computer, or a tablet computer, and optionally further comprising displaying the report on a display of the mobile communication device.

10 . A method of monitoring use of a drug delivery device with an application executing on a mobile computing device including a processor and a memory, the method comprising:
receiving, at a mobile communication module of the mobile computing device, state information related to the drug delivery device, the state information determined by a controller of the drug delivery device and comprising at least one of (a) condition state information, (b) operational state information, or (c) identity information; generating a report including the state information; and configuring the report, with the processor of the mobile computing device, to be transmitted by the mobile computing device to a remote computing device.

11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
transmitting the report, with the mobile communication module of the mobile computing device, to the remote computing device, optionally wherein transmitting the report to the remote computing device comprises the mobile communication module communicating with the remote computing device over a first network, and optionally wherein receiving the state information comprises the mobile communication module communicating with the drug delivery device over a second network.

12 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
storing the report in a memory of the mobile computing device, and optionally displaying the report on a display of the mobile communication device.

         13 . The method of claim 10 ,
wherein the state information comprises operational state information including at least one of (a) drug delivery information, (b) operational error information, (c) packaging state information, or (d) storage state information, and optionally wherein the operational state information comprises drug delivery information including at least one of (a) status of delivery trigger, (b) status of device application to patient, (c) status of cannula insertion, (d) status of drug delivery, or (e) status of delivery completion.

14 . The method of claim 13 , wherein the operational state information comprises operational error information including whether the drug delivery device has not performed properly.

         15 . The method of claim 10 ,
wherein the state information comprises identity information including at least one of (a) drug delivery device identity information, (b) drug identity information, or (c) patient identity information, optionally wherein the identity information comprises drug delivery device identity information including at least one of (a) a serial number of the drug delivery device, (b) a date of manufacture of the drug delivery device, or (c) a type of drug delivery device, and optionally wherein the identity information comprises drug identity information including at least one of (a) a drug name, (b) a drug concentration, (c) dose information, (d) a lot or serial number, (e) a date of manufacture, or (f) a date of expiration.
