Abstract
Methods, systems, and apparatuses, among other things, as described herein may provide for hyperlocal edge cache. A method includes intercepting a request for a resource/entity associated with an application; determining that the request can be served from the cache, wherein the cache is connected with a base station and only serves devices directly connected with the base station; and responding to fulfill the request for the resource associated with the application.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed:
1 . A method comprising:
intercepting, by a processing system including a processor, a request for a resource associated with an application of a first device associated with a base station; determining, by the processing system, whether the first device is wirelessly connected with the base station and the first device is in a local area served by the base station; storing, by the processing system, in a cache connected with the base station, information available for access by the first device only when the first device is in a designated area of the local area served by the base station; determining, by the processing system, whether the request for the resource associated with the application can be served from the cache, wherein the determining whether the request for the resource associated with the application can be served from the cache is responsive to determining the first device is wirelessly connected with the base station and the first device is in the designated area; and responding, by the processing system, to the request for the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the responding is responsive to the determining that the request for the resource associated with the application can be served from the cache.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the storing information available for access by the first device only when the first device is in the designated area comprises:
receiving, by the processing system, event information related to an event occurring in the designated area; and storing, by the processing system, the event information in the cache connected to the base station.
3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
receiving, by the processing system, the event information including event activity hours; determining, by the processing system, whether the request for the resource is received during the event activity hours; and providing, by the processing system, the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the providing the resource is responsive to the determining that the request is received during the event activity hours.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:
providing, by the processing system, an indication of access denied, wherein the providing the indication of access denied is responsive to the determining that the request is received outside of the event activity hours.
5 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
receiving, by the processing system, event venue information with the event information, wherein the event venue information defines a location of the event; determining, by the processing system, whether the request for the resource is received from the location of the event; and providing, by the processing system, the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the providing the resource is responsive to the determining that the request is received from the location of the event.
6 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising:
receiving, by the processing system, boundary information with the event information, wherein the boundary information defines one or more boundaries of the designated area of the local area; determining, by the processing system, whether the request for the resource is received from within the one or more boundaries of the designated area; and providing, by the processing system, the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the providing the resource is responsive to the determining that the request is received from within the one or more boundaries of the designated area.
7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising:
receiving, by the processing system, global positioning system (GPS) coordinates from the first device, the GPS coordinates associated with a location of the first device; and determining, by the processing system, whether the request for the resource is received from within the one or more boundaries of the designated area based on the GPS coordinates.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining, by the processing system, that the request for the resource associated with the application cannot be served from the cache; and forwarding, by the processing system, the request for the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the forwarding the request is responsive to the determining the request for the resource associated with the application cannot be served from the cache.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the determining the request for the resource associated with the application cannot be served from the cache is responsive to determining the first device is either not wirelessly connected with the base station or the first device is not in the designated area served by the base station.
10 . A device, comprising:
a processing system including a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising: receiving data from a remote source; storing the data at a cache device, wherein the cache device connected with a base station, wherein the data is restricted to access by devices wirelessly connected with the base station and devices located in a designated area of a local area served by the base station; receiving a request for a resource associated with an application of a first device that is wirelessly connected with the base station; determining, from the request, a destination for the request; comparing the destination for the request with the designated area of the local area served by the base station; and responding to the request for the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the responding to the request is responsive to a determination that the first device is wirelessly connected with the base station and is responsive to the comparing the destination for the request with the designated area of the local area served by the base station.
11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the storing the data at a cache device comprises:
receiving venue information related to an event occurring in the designated area, wherein the event occurs at a venue associated with the venue information; and storing, by the processing system, the venue information in the cache device connected to the base station.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving boundary information with the venue information, wherein the boundary information defines a boundary of the designated area around the venue; determining whether the destination for the request is received from within the boundary of the designated area; and providing the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the providing the resource is responsive to the determining that the request is received from within the boundary of the designated area.
13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving global positioning system (GPS) coordinates from the first device, the GPS coordinates associated with a location of the first device; and determining whether the request for the resource is received from within the boundary of the designated area based on the GPS coordinates.
14 . The device of claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving map information; storing the map information in the cache device connected to the base station; and providing to the first device the resource associated with the application of the first device, wherein the providing the resource is responsive to the determining that the request is received from a destination within the designated area.
15 . The device of claim 14 , wherein the receiving map information comprises:
receiving map information related to the designated area.
16 . A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
intercepting, at a memory connected to a base station, a request received at the base station for a resource associated with an application of a first device that is located in a local area served by the base station; determining whether the first device is wirelessly connected with the base station; determining whether the first device is located in a designated area associated with an event, the designated area being within the local area served by the base station; and serving the resource associated with the application from the memory, wherein the serving the request is responsive to the determining the first device is wirelessly connected with the base station and responsive to the determining the first device is in the designated area associated with the event.
17 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving global positioning system (GPS) coordinates from the first device, the GPS coordinates associated with a location of the first device; and determining whether the request for the resource is received from within the designated area associated with the event.
18 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:
receiving boundary information defining a boundary of the designated area associated with the event; and determining whether the request for the resource is received from within the boundary of the designated area.
19 . The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise:
detecting TCP/IP level information of the request; and intercepting the request based on the TCP/IP level information of the request.
