Abstract

Some embodiments are directed to an image processing apparatus comprising obtaining a reference image and a verification target image; selecting one or more defect detection processing from a plurality of types of defect detection processing for performing defect detection in the verification target image; executing the selected one or more defect detection processing on a difference image between the reference image and the verification target image in accordance with processing parameters of the selected one or more defect detection processing; and outputting a result display screen in which a defect in the verification target image and a defect detection processing used for detecting the defect can be identified, in a case where the defect is detected.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An image processing apparatus comprising:
 a display;   at least one memory device that stores a set of instructions; and   at least one processor that executes the set of instructions to:   detect, based on a reference image, a defect included in a verification target image obtained by reading an image printed on a recording sheet; and   cause the display to display the detected defect and identification information capable of identifying a type of the detected defect near the detected defect.   
     
     
         2 . The image processing apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the defect is a point-like image defect or a linear image defect.   
     
     
         3 . The image processing apparatus according to  claim 2 ,
 wherein the identification information is identification information indicating the point-like image defect or identification information indicating the linear image defect.   
     
     
         4 . The image processing apparatus according to  claim 1 ,
 wherein the at least one processor executes the set of instructions in the at least one memory device to:   cause the display to display coordinate information of the detected defect.   
     
     
         5 . An image processing apparatus comprising:
 a display;   at least one memory device that stores a set of instructions; and   at least one processor that executes the set of instructions to:   set a first detection level for detecting a first defect and a second detection level for detecting a second defect;   detect, based on a reference image, the first defect and the second defect included in a verification target image obtained by reading an image printed on a recording sheet; and   cause the display to display the first defect detected based on the first detection level and cause the display to display the second defect detected based on the second detection level.   
     
     
         6 . The image processing apparatus according to  claim 5 ,
 wherein the detected first defect is a point-like image defect, and the detected second defect is a linear image defect.   
     
     
         7 . The image processing apparatus according to  claim 5 ,
 wherein the at least one processor executes the set of instructions in the at least one memory device to:   cause the display to display the detected first defect with a first color, and cause the display to display the detected second defect with a second color being different from the first color.   
     
     
         8 . A control method of an image processing apparatus comprising a display, the control method comprising:
 detecting, based on a reference image, a defect included in a verification target image obtained by reading an image printed on a recording sheet; and   causing the display to display the detected defect and identification information capable of identifying a type of the detected defect near the detected defect.   
     
     
         9 . The control method according to  claim 8 ,
 wherein the defect is a point-like image defect or a linear image defect.   
     
     
         10 . The control method according to  claim 9 ,
 wherein the identification information is identification information indicating the point-like image defect or identification information indicating the linear image defect.   
     
     
         11 . The control method according to  claim 8 , further comprising:
 causing the display to display coordinate information of the detected defect.   
     
     
         12 . A control method of an image processing apparatus comprising a display, the control method comprising:
 setting a first detection level for detecting a first defect and a second detection level for detecting a second defect;   detecting, based on a reference image, the first defect and the second defect included in a verification target image obtained by reading an image printed on a recording sheet; and   causing the display to display the first defect detected based on the first detection level and cause the display to display the second defect detected based on the second detection level.   
     
     
         13 . The control method according to  claim 12 ,
 wherein the detected first defect is a point-like image defect, and the detected second defect is a linear image defect.   
     
     
         14 . The control method according to  claim 12 , further comprising:
 causing the display to display the detected first defect with a first color, and   causing the display to display the detected second defect with a second color being different from the first color.   
     
     
         15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer program for causing a computer to execute a control method of an image processing apparatus comprising a display, the control method comprising:
 detecting, based on a reference image, a defect included in a verification target image obtained by reading an image printed on a recording sheet; and   causing the display to display the detected defect and identification information capable of identifying a type of the detected defect near the detected defect.   
     
     
         16 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer program for causing a computer to execute a control method an image processing apparatus comprising a display, the control method comprising:
 setting a first detection level for detecting a first defect and a second detection level for detecting a second defect;   detecting, based on a reference image, the first defect and the second defect included in a verification target image obtained by reading an image printed on a recording sheet; and   causing the display to display the first defect detected based on the first detection level and cause the display to display the second defect detected based on the second detection level.
