Rights Management and Syndication of Content

Abstract

Systems, devices, and methods are described herein for distributing syndicated content or content with one or more distribution restrictions. In one aspect, a method may include assigning a unique ID to a plurality of content items, where the unique ID of at least one of the content items is associated with one or more property distribution restrictions. The method may further include streaming in a video stream the content items to at least two properties and monitoring the unique IDs of the plurality of content items streamed in the video stream to detect least one content item associated with the one or more property distribution restrictions. The distribution of the least one content item associated with the one or more property distribution restrictions may be blocked from the one or more properties concurrently with streaming the video stream, based on the one or more property distribution restrictions.

         17 . A method, comprising:
 generating, at a pre-production stage of a syndication, a set of content items, each being assigned a different identifier (ID), wherein at least one of the IDs is associated with a property distribution restriction of a third party;   obtaining, at a content delivery network (CDN), a video stream comprising the content items;   monitoring the video stream; and   responsive to the monitoring, detecting at least one of the content items having the ID associated with the property distribution restriction.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 performing a full download of the content items and of one or more other sets of content items of the video stream that match a pathing filtering.   
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 modifying, in real-time during a production stage of the syndication, at least one of the content items.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 connecting at least one cloud-based general purpose interface (GPI) middleware component to a plurality of content sources,   wherein the monitoring is of the content sources to identify a match of at least one of the IDs in a playout status and to determine at least one of the content sources associated with at least one of the content items.   
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 20 , further comprising:
 iteratively polling, via the cloud-based GPI middleware component, each airspeed channel on each of the content sources.   
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , further comprising:
 responsive to the respective polling, receiving a current status.   
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 21 , further comprising:
 adding, to an embargo list, the respective ID of the at least one detected content item.   
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23 , further comprising:
 comparing, to the at least one added ID and to one or more other IDs on the embargo list, an ID related to an active playing out on a playout device,   wherein the polling is of the playout device.   
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 24 , further comprising:
 when restricting a streaming, to the playout device, of the at least one detected content item associated with the property distribution restriction, monitoring the ID related to the active playing out on the playout device.   
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 25 , further comprising:
 determining whether the monitored ID has changed to a unique ID not on the embargo list; and   responsive to the determination that the monitored ID has changed to the unique ID not on the embargo list, resuming the streaming of the video stream.   
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the content items are contained in a show rundown, and 
 wherein the video stream is produced from the show rundown.   
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the modification comprises at least one of modifying an order of one or more first content items, adding a second content item, deleting a third content item, changing a position of one or more fourth content items, or application of changes to one or more property distribution restrictions respectively associated with one or more fifth content items. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 monitoring a state of a restriction trigger, which is activated in relation to at least one of the content items; and   responsive to the monitoring of the state, restricting streaming of the at least one detected content item.   
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 29 , further comprising:
 determining whether the state has changed to an allow state; and   responsive to the determination that the state has changed to the allow state, resuming a streaming of the video stream.   
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the restriction of the at least one content item comprises:
 sending at least one commencement signal,   wherein the at least one commencement signal comprises a boundary in the video stream associated with indicative metadata.   
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 17 , further comprising:
 providing, at an online property, the video stream.   
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the polling is periodic and comprises a configurable unit of time. 
     
     
         34 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the video stream comprises at least one of a live video, video-on demand, or a single production feed video stream. 
     
     
         35 . A non-transitory, computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, configure the one or more processors to:
 generate, at a pre-production stage of a syndication, a set of content items, each being assigned a different identifier (ID), wherein at least one of the IDs is associated with a property distribution restriction of a third party;   obtain, at a content delivery network (CDN), a video stream comprising the content items;   monitor the video stream; and   responsive to the monitoring, detect at least one of the content items having the ID associated with the property distribution restriction.   
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:
 perform a full download of the content items and of one or more other sets of content items of the video stream that match a pathing filtering.
