Antimicrobial compounds, compositions, and methods

Abstract

The presently-disclosed subject matter generally relates to antimicrobial compounds, compositions, methods of making and methods of use thereof. The presently-disclosed subject matter further relates to compounds, compositions and methods for the control of Porphyromonas gingivalis.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A compound having the following formula or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof: 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
         wherein,
 R 1  is a moiety as disclosed in the specification; and 
 R 2  is a moiety as disclosed in the specification. 
 
       
     
     
         2 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of  claim 1 , and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier. 
     
     
         3 . A method of controlling a microbe, comprising: contacting the microbe with an effective amount of the composition of  claim 1 . 
     
     
         4 . A method of treating a microbial infection, comprising: administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of the composition of  claim 1 .
