Abstract

Method and system for providing analyte sensor alignment and retention mechanism for improved connectivity with a transmitter unit for electrical connection, and further including transmitter unit contact pins with metal components to improve electrical conductivity with the analyte sensor in an analyte monitoring and management system is provided.

         17 . An on-skin assembly comprising:
 a transmitter comprising a transmitter housing and a plurality of electrical contacts, wherein each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts protrudes outwardly from the transmitter housing;   an analyte sensor comprising a first portion configured to be electrically coupled with the transmitter and a second portion configured to be inserted through a skin surface and in fluid contact with a bodily fluid of a user, wherein the first portion of the analyte sensor comprises a plurality of conductive pads, and wherein the each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts is configured to electrically couple with a corresponding conductive pad of the plurality of conductive pads; and   a seal comprising a plurality of concave portions, wherein the each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts is further configured to engage with a corresponding concave portion of the plurality of concave portions, and wherein the seal is configured to establish an electrical coupling between the analyte sensor and the transmitter.   
     
     
         18 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts comprises an electrical contact pin. 
     
     
         19 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 18 , wherein at least a first end of the each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts is configured to contact the corresponding conductive pad of the plurality of conductive pads. 
     
     
         20 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts comprises a convex portion configured to be received by the corresponding concave portion of the plurality of concave portions. 
     
     
         21 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein a contact point between the each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts and the corresponding conductive pad of the plurality of conductive pads comprises a conductive polymer. 
     
     
         22 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the plurality of conductive pads comprises three electrodes, wherein the plurality of concave portions comprises three concave portions, and wherein the plurality of electrical contacts comprises three electrical contacts. 
     
     
         23 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 22 , wherein each electrode of the three electrodes is configured to be in electrical communication with a corresponding electrical contact of the three electrical contacts. 
     
     
         24 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 22 , wherein the three electrodes comprise a working electrode, a counter electrode, and a reference electrode. 
     
     
         25 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein a first surface of the seal is in contact with the analyte sensor and a second surface of the seal is in contact with the transmitter housing, and wherein the first surface and the second surface are facing opposite directions. 
     
     
         26 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 25 , wherein the plurality of concave portions is disposed on the second surface of the seal. 
     
     
         27 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the transmitter is configured to establish signal communication with the analyte sensor, and wherein the transmitter is further configured to receive data signals from the analyte sensor. 
     
     
         28 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the each electrical contact of the plurality of electrical contacts comprises a metal component. 
     
     
         29 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the analyte sensor further comprises a planar surface, and wherein the plurality of conductive pads is provided on the planar surface. 
     
     
         30 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the analyte sensor comprises a glucose sensor. 
     
     
         31 . The on-skin assembly of  claim 17 , wherein the seal is further configured to align the plurality of electrical contacts with the plurality of conductive pads to establish the electrical coupling between the analyte sensor and the transmitter.
